Leaker's jam-packed Apple roadmap suggests M1 Ultra Mac Pro for 2022, redesigned 13.3-inch M3 MacBook Pro for 2023, and M3 iMac for 2024
There have been a lot of leaks and whispers concerning Apple products lately, and it appears that LeaksApplePro has gone for broke with their latest addition to the rumor mill. A comprehensive roadmap from 2022 to 2024 has been offered up along with some initial configuration details for the Apple M3 SoC. Some of these details have already been reported, either by different sources or the same source, and, of course, the leaker reminds us that there is the caveat that Apple could change or cancel plans at any given moment.
Obviously, a pinch of salt is required here, but it is intriguing to discover what information the tipster claims their secret supply chain insiders have given up. Here is a yearly breakdown of the potential Mac product releases:
2022:
- M2 Mac mini possibly in June, joined by either the 24-inch M2 iMac or a MacBook Pro 13 with M2
- M2 Pro Mac mini by September/October time potentially featuring a 12-core CPU/16-core GPU SoC
- Mac Pro with two or even four M1 Ultra chips and a 27-inch ProMotion mini-LED display shipping in Q3
- M2 MacBook Air without mini-LED costing from US$999 by late 2022 (Sep/Oct)
2023:
- New iMac Pro with M1 Pro and M1 Max chip options – possibly M1 Ultra too
- MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 refresh (still with notches) with M2 Pro/M2 Max in July
- M3 Mac mini, 13.3-inch M3 MacBook Air, and redesigned 13.3-inch M3 MacBook Pro between Q3 and Q4
2024:
- M3 24-inch iMac and M3 Pro Mac mini to start off the year
Along with that jaw-dropping roadmap, LeaksApplePro (via iDropNews) also offered up some early details about the Apple M3 SoC, stating knowledge of two prototypes:
- Apple M3 with 8-core CPU (6x performance + 2x efficiency) and 10-core GPU
- Apple M3 with 10-core CPU (6x performance + 4x efficiency) and 10-core GPU
It appears there is potential for the M3 chip with fewer CPU cores to end up inside an M3 MacBook Air while the beefier M3 MacBook Pro could handle the SKU with the two additional efficiency cores. However, Apple has a habit of surprising even the most reliable of leakers (Mac Studio and M1 Ultra spring to mind), and a lot can change between now and early 2024.
