Reportedly, Apple will not launch the next MacBook Air until the second half of 2022. However, ZONEofTECH has shared concept images of what this year's MacBook Air could look like that differ from those that have been published previously. The changes include a more rounded design that is closer to the MacBook Pro 15 and MacBook Pro 16, among other things.

Earlier this week, Mark Gurman announced to his Power On newsletter subscribers that Apple had delayed the release of the next MacBook Air. Supposedly now due in the second half of the year, the MacBook Air is rumoured to rely on the Apple M2, a second-generation version of the M1 found in the current model. Based on previous leaks, the MacBook Air is expected to feature a much flatter design than the MacBook Pro 14, MacBook Pro 16 or even the M1-powered MacBook Air.

However, YouTuber ZONEofTECH has theorised that Prosser's earlier renders contain inconsistencies. In response, ZONEofTECH has created his own, embedded throughout this article. In short, the YouTuber has based his concept images on the MacBook Pro 14, released last year.

As he discusses in the video below, ZONEofTECH believes that the next MacBook Air will remain consistent with the design language established with the MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16, as was the case with the current MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 13 and MacBook Pro 15. Additionally, ZONEofTECH asserts that Apple is likely to re-use the keyboard from the MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 in the MacBook Air.

Moreover, the YouTuber believes that Apple could include a colour-contrasting keyboard deck, mirroring the bundled keyboard that Apple includes in the 24-inch iMac. Incidentally, ZONEofTech asserts that the next MacBook Air could be a minimum of 10.5 mm thick to house its ports while keeping to a rounded design.
