AMD is working on its own implementation of super sampling similar to NVIDIA's DLSS technology. Big Navi ray-tracing could be better than expected: leaked benchmarks show the Radeon RX 6800 compete with the GeForce RTX 3070 with DLSS enabled

Leaked DXR benchmarks indicate that AMD's hardware ray-tracing solution could be better than expected. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the Radeon RX 6800 at native-res trails the GeForce RTX 3070 by only a slight margin, even with the latter using DLSS upscaling.

Initial benchmark leaks of the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X show excellent leads in single-core performance over the Intel Core i9-10900K in PassMark and Geekbench 5. The scores seem to indicate anywhere between 16 to 20% benefits in single-core applications for the Ryzen 9 5950X. Even the Ryzen 5 5600X seems to have managed quite a decent lead over Intel's flagship offering.

AMD announces the Radeon RX 6800 XT gaming GPU and claims a win against Nvidia's RTX 3080

Seems like AMD is winning in so many markets now. Desktop CPUs, server CPUs, AI soon (with the Xilinx acquisition?) and now it finally reclaims the GPU crown with the announcement of the RX 6000 series. The RX 6800 XT model is beating the RTX 3080 in raster performance, gets 6 more GB VRAM, and costs $50 less, but we are hearing the ray tracing performance is not quite there yet.

Nvidia RTX 3080 in trouble: AMD rumored to show the RX 6800 XT GPU winning in considerably more games, both in 4K and 1440p

Info regarding the official Navi 21 presentation tomorrow has been leaked and things are not looking good for the RTX 3080 GPUs from Nvidia. Sources close to RedGamingTech claim that the RX 6800 XT cards will show better raster performance in significantly more 1440p and 4K titles. Once again, the ray tracing performance of the AMD cards is said to lag behind, still, at least it is on par with the RTX 2080 Ti in this regard. We could expect something similar to DLSS by early 2021.

Big if true: pictured Radeon RX 6800 XT engineering sample is beating the RTX 3080 in almost all leaked 3DMark results

Four independent sources reveal that that the RX 6800 XT cards perform up to 19% better in the Firestrike tests, and up to 3% faster in the Time Spy tests, but still trail behind the RTX 3080 in the Port Royal tests that focus on ray tracing performance. One of the sources claims that the AMD cards can even beat the RTX 3090 in the Firestrike tests, but we are suspecting the source is actually confusing RX 6800 XT with the more potent RX 6900 XT in this case.

Fujitsu announces the world's lightest 13.3-inch Lifebook laptops weighing only 634 g, Intel Tiger Lake and AMD Renoir processors in tow

In order to bring the total weight down to 643 grams, Fujitsu had to reduce the number of components, replace the metallic upper cover with carbon fiber and redesign some of the ports and internal circuitry. The UH-X / E3 models are powered by the Intel Core i7-1165G7 CPU and includes a small 25 Wh battery, but Fujitsu also offers the slightly heavier UH90 / E3 models with 54 Wh batteries and the UH75 / E3 models powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U APUs that weigh just under 1Kg.

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X overclocked to 6.0 GHz pops up in Geekbench tests

Apparently, AMD made it easier to overclock the Ryzen 5000 CPUs, as the Geekbench tests were recorded on an iMac Pro running macOS, which are not particularly suitable for overclocking. The best results for the Ryzen 9 5950X running at 6 GHz show decent gains of 20% in single-core tests and 12% in multi-core tests over a Ryzen 9 3900X clocked at 5.9 GHz.

Updated | ASUS drops support for Ryzen 5000 processor series on X470 motherboards

ASUS will not be enabling support for Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 processors on X470 motherboards. The move comes following AMD's confirmation that the X470 and B450 chipsets should start receiving beta BIOSes that enable support as of January 2021.
Update: ASUS has stated that a customer service representation was misinformed in their comments.

AMD joins NVIDIA and Intel with enabling AV1 hardware acceleration on the Radeon RX 6000 series

The Radeon RX 6000 series will support the new AV1 hardware acceleration, Microsoft has confirmed. AMD joins NVIDIA and Intel in supporting the AV1 video codec, which promises to offer up to 50% better compression than H.264 and 20% better than VP9.

AMD Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 support is rolling out for ASUS, ASRock, Biostar, Gigabyte and MSI 500 series motherboards; no B450 or X470 support until January 2021 at the earliest

AMD Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 support has been added to multiple 500 series motherboards, including the likes of the A520 and X570 chipsets. ASUS, ASRock, Biostar, Gigabyte and MSI are the first manufacturers to add support, but it will be at least January 2021 before 400 series chipsets like the B450 or X470 can run Zen 3 processors.

AMD may acquire FPGA maker Xilinx for $30 billion

AMD has been recording profitable quarters upon quarters for some time now and is out to expand its portfolio with FPGA chips designed for the telecommunications and defense markets. The merger between AMD and Xilinx could enable team red to become an important player in the 5G infrastructure sector and finally try its hand at AI-driven applications, plus it could strengthen its position in the data center market.

Dell’s Alienware division has just revealed its upgraded Aurora desktop gaming PCs. As you would expect, the new models feature Nvidia’s vaunted new RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 GPUs, although they have been customized by Alienware to fit more easily into the chassis of the PC.
