A 3DMark Time Spy result of an alleged AMD Radeon RX 6800 has surfaced. Though not confirmed to be an RX 6800, the leaked Time Spy graphics score shows a healthy 23% lead over the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition.

According to a Videocardz report, NVIDIA is planning to launch a cheaper GeForce RTX 3060 Ti on November 17th, featuring 4864 CUDA cores and a 180W TDP. The card will likely be competitive with the popular GeForce RTX 2070 Super, while launching at a relatively affordable price-point.

AMD is working on its own implementation of super sampling similar to NVIDIA's DLSS technology. AMD's super-sampling technique is likely to be based on DirectML and is touted to be open source and cross-platform, which means this feature will also grace consoles such as the Xbox Series X and Series S along with the PlayStation 5 in the near future.

Leaked DXR benchmarks indicate that AMD's hardware ray-tracing solution could be better than expected. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the Radeon RX 6800 at native-res trails the GeForce RTX 3070 by only a slight margin, even with the latter using DLSS upscaling.

Benchmarks compiled and aggregated by tipster @_rogame indicate that AMD's new Smart Access Cache technology might not offer a game-changing performance uplift in most cases. Nevertheless, the same benchmarks indicate that Big Navi's raw raster performance could make that a moot point.

The MINISFORUM DeskMini DMAF5 is now shipping, following a successful crowdfunding campaign. The DeskMini DMAF5 starts at US$399 and comes with an AMD Ryzen 5 3550H APU. The machine can be equipped with up to 32 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD.

AMD is seemingly in a buoyant mood, trolling NVIDIA about the size and power requirements of its RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 cards. Gigabyte and MSI have filed multiple Radeon RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT with the EEC, following their launch by AMD. Gigabyte has certified another RTX 3060 Ti SKU with the regulator too, following the ones that it registered earlier this month.

The RX 6900 XT is here, and AMD claims that it takes on the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 for just US$999. AMD's most-powered RDNA 2 GPU will debut in December, albeit only as a reference card initially.

Initial benchmark leaks of the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X show excellent leads in single-core performance over the Intel Core i9-10900K in PassMark and Geekbench 5. The scores seem to indicate anywhere between 16 to 20% benefits in single-core applications for the Ryzen 9 5950X. Even the Ryzen 5 5600X seems to have managed quite a decent lead over Intel's flagship offering.

Seems like AMD is winning in so many markets now. Desktop CPUs, server CPUs, AI soon (with the Xilinx acquisition?) and now it finally reclaims the GPU crown with the announcement of the RX 6000 series. The RX 6800 XT model is beating the RTX 3080 in raster performance, gets 6 more GB VRAM, and costs $50 less, but we are hearing the ray tracing performance is not quite there yet.

Info regarding the official Navi 21 presentation tomorrow has been leaked and things are not looking good for the RTX 3080 GPUs from Nvidia. Sources close to RedGamingTech claim that the RX 6800 XT cards will show better raster performance in significantly more 1440p and 4K titles. Once again, the ray tracing performance of the AMD cards is said to lag behind, still, at least it is on par with the RTX 2080 Ti in this regard. We could expect something similar to DLSS by early 2021.

The CPU-Z benchmark results for the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Zen 3 are out and everything looks impressive: 11% faster than the Intel Core i9-10900K and 25% faster than the AMD Ryzen 7 3800X in single-core, as well as 10% slower than the Core i9-10900K and 17% faster than the Ryzen 7 3800XT when all cores are being used.

Tipster @patrickschur_ reports that an AIB Radeon RX 6800 XT part boosts to 2.5 GHz and beyond when running 3DMark 11. The sample was listed as an engineering sample, indicating that retail clocks could go even higher.

New sales data from Mindfactory has revealed the continued success story that is AMD Ryzen. The top 13 places are occupied by Ryzen CPUs, with the evergreen Ryzen 5 3600 still selling by the truckload. With the Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 series launching soon, and rumors of a Ryzen 5 5600 for next year, Team Red will likely go from strength to strength.

The Ryzen 5 5600X has flexed its muscles on PassMark, leaving Zen 2 and Intel processors in its wake. AMD's budget Vermeer and Zen 3 chip outscores all before it by at least 10% in PassMark's single-threaded test and is 47% faster than its predecessor.

Four independent sources reveal that that the RX 6800 XT cards perform up to 19% better in the Firestrike tests, and up to 3% faster in the Time Spy tests, but still trail behind the RTX 3080 in the Port Royal tests that focus on ray tracing performance. One of the sources claims that the AMD cards can even beat the RTX 3090 in the Firestrike tests, but we are suspecting the source is actually confusing RX 6800 XT with the more potent RX 6900 XT in this case.

Lenovo is now introducing Ryzen 4000H APU options for the world's lightest gaming laptops featuring RTX 2000 GPUs. The new Legion Slim 7 models can be equipped with up to a Ryzen 4900H APU coupled with up to 32 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM, up to 2 TB of NVMe SSD storage and up to an RTX 2060 Max-Q GPU. Users can also choose between 60 Hz / 144 Hz FHD displays and even a 60 Hz 4K HDR screen.

Apparently, AMD did not show off its flagship Navi 21 XTX version with the Ryzen 5000 CPUs earlier this month. Rumor has it that the performance metrics presented back then come from the Navi 21 SKU powering the RX 6800 XT cards and these can match the RTX 3080, but they also feature a lower price point closer to the RTX 3070.

The RX 6900 XT will deliver clock speeds over 2,300 MHz with 80 CUs and 16 GB of GDDR6 VRAM, according to a new leak. Four other cards will make up AMD's 'Big Navi' lineup, as will AIB cards that will venture to an eye-watering 2,577 MHz.

In order to bring the total weight down to 643 grams, Fujitsu had to reduce the number of components, replace the metallic upper cover with carbon fiber and redesign some of the ports and internal circuitry. The UH-X / E3 models are powered by the Intel Core i7-1165G7 CPU and includes a small 25 Wh battery, but Fujitsu also offers the slightly heavier UH90 / E3 models with 54 Wh batteries and the UH75 / E3 models powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U APUs that weigh just under 1Kg.

With just a week to go before AMD's Big Navi reveal, NVIDIA announced 12 DLSS and RTX-enabled games, including sandbox epic Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord. The timing is interesting, considering the concerns about AMD's hardware ray-tracing capabilities.

AMD is yet to announce its challengers to the likes of the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080, but rumoured clock speeds suggest that at least one Navi 21 SKU will be capable of reaching 2.4 GHz. The Navi 21 XT is thought to offer 16 GB of GDDR6 RAM too, along with a 255 TGP. The Navi 21 XL and XLE will supposedly be no slouches, either.

AMD's upcoming Ryzen 5000 APU lineup will be a mix of Zen 2 Lucienne (Renoir Refresh) and Zen 3 Cezanne parts probably with the intention of offering more value to OEMs and maximizing the utilization of the 7 nm node. So far, there is no direct way to demarcate both the architectures in the lineup save for the fact that the odd-numbered parts are Lucienne while the even-numbered ones are Cezanne.

Digital retailer ProShop indicated that AIBs have delivered fewer than 8 percent of the 8925 NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 units it ordered, far too few to meet increasing customer demand. This reinforces speculation that Ampere supply shortages could continue for months to come.

ASUS' top-end ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 3090 GUNDAM promises higher clock speeds, better performance, and an all-white design. However, for US$2500, a US$1000 premium over the already expensive GeForce RTX 3090 Founder's Edition, this is a graphics card for ultra-enthusiasts only.

Apparently, AMD made it easier to overclock the Ryzen 5000 CPUs, as the Geekbench tests were recorded on an iMac Pro running macOS, which are not particularly suitable for overclocking. The best results for the Ryzen 9 5950X running at 6 GHz show decent gains of 20% in single-core tests and 12% in multi-core tests over a Ryzen 9 3900X clocked at 5.9 GHz.

In this quick test, we attempt to overclock and underclock the Ryzen 5 4600U APU powering a Xiaomi RedmiBook 16 using the new Renoir Mobile Tuning 1.0.0. Underclocking worked like a breeze, but the Renoir-U APU in question shows no overclocking potential. We suspect that the Renoir-H APUs may be more overclocking-friendly.

The Alder Lake-S chips would get 6 more cores over the current Comet Lake-S models, and the difference in size reflects this to some extent. However, the bigger chips also require a new socket, so Comet Lake-S users will be forced to upgrade the motherboard in case they want to make the jump to the 10 nm big/small architecture.

An Aliexpress seller recently listed what appears to be a rare, unreleased AMD APU from the Excavator era. The 8-core A9-9820 leverage R7 350 graphics and bear striking similarities to the Xbox One's performance profile.

ASUS will support the X470 and B450 chipsets into Zen 3, the company has confirmed. It has reaffirmed support for the two chipsets after representatives apparently informed a customer that the X470 chipset would never receive the BIOS upgrade to run Ryzen 5000 processors.

AMD may have increased price points for the Ryzen 5000 desktop CPUs, but keep in mind that we have not yet seen any non-X versions. According to a new leak, the non-X Ryzen 5000 CPUs are expected to launch in Q1 2021, and the Ryzen 5 5600 could be priced at $220 while almost matching the performance of an Intel Core i7-10700.

ASUS will not be enabling support for Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 processors on X470 motherboards. The move comes following AMD's confirmation that the X470 and B450 chipsets should start receiving beta BIOSes that enable support as of January 2021.
Update: ASUS has stated that a customer service representation was misinformed in their comments.

The Radeon RX 6000 series will support the new AV1 hardware acceleration, Microsoft has confirmed. AMD joins NVIDIA and Intel in supporting the AV1 video codec, which promises to offer up to 50% better compression than H.264 and 20% better than VP9.

AMD Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 support has been added to multiple 500 series motherboards, including the likes of the A520 and X570 chipsets. ASUS, ASRock, Biostar, Gigabyte and MSI are the first manufacturers to add support, but it will be at least January 2021 before 400 series chipsets like the B450 or X470 can run Zen 3 processors.

Last year, AMD started its anti-NUC initiative, as many of its embedded and laptop-grade APUs can now easily be included in mini PCs. This initiative could soon culminate with gaming mini PCs that are based on AMD's Project Quantum presented 5 years ago at E3.

It seems that Google is making inroads in the business sector as well now, as some companies transition to the simpler Google OS. The Simply NUC Aspen is a new series of Mini-PCs based on AMD Ryzen 4000 Renoir APUs. The Aspen can be configured with up to 64 GB of dual-channel RAM and a 2 TB PCIe NVMe SSD.

AMD has been recording profitable quarters upon quarters for some time now and is out to expand its portfolio with FPGA chips designed for the telecommunications and defense markets. The merger between AMD and Xilinx could enable team red to become an important player in the 5G infrastructure sector and finally try its hand at AI-driven applications, plus it could strengthen its position in the data center market.

Dell’s Alienware division has just revealed its upgraded Aurora desktop gaming PCs. As you would expect, the new models feature Nvidia’s vaunted new RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 GPUs, although they have been customized by Alienware to fit more easily into the chassis of the PC.
