At CES 2021, Acer announced a refreshed Nitro 5 powered by AMD Ryzen 5000 H-series APUs and NVIDIA RTX 30 series graphics. Now, Acer has introduced a few of these refreshed Nitro 5 gaming laptops for the Indian market. The new Nitro 5 will be available in both Intel and AMD variants.
On the AMD side, the Nitro 5 is available with a Ryzen 5 5600H APU and a choice of either the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU or the GeForce GTX 1650. The Nitro 5 sports a 15.6-inch FHD IPS 144 Hz screen and offers two M.2 PCIe NVMe slots and up to 32 GB of DDR4-3200 memory.
The Nitro 5 features Acer's CoolerBoost technology that can be controlled using a dedicated NitroSense hotkey. A Killer E2600 Ethernet card helps provide for low-latency gaming. The Nitro 5 also offers Acer TrueHarmony audio with a license for DTS:X Ultra.
The Acer Nitro 5 will be available on the Acer India Online Store as well as on Flipkart at prices ₹71,990 (~US$957, R5 5600H/GTX 1650/8 GB RAM/256 GB SSD/1 TB HDD/144 Hz) and ₹94,990 (~US$1,263, R5 5600H/RTX 3060/16 GB RAM/256 GB SSD/1 TB HDD/144 Hz).
Those who prefer an Intel solution can opt for the Acer Nitro 5 powered by the Intel Core i5-11300H. The Core i5-11300H is a 4C/8T mid-range Tiger Lake-H35 processor with a base clock of 3.1 GHz and a boost of 4.4 GHz. The Intel variant sports a similar spec sheet as that of its AMD counterpart but offers only NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics. Additionally, Acer also bundles access to the Planet 9 eSports social platform, which is a community of eSports players of all experience levels.
The Acer Nitro 5 with Core i5-11300H and GTX 1650 graphics can be had for ₹69,990 (~US$930) on the Acer India Online Store as well as on Amazon India.
Currently, these are the only configurations Acer is offering for the Indian market. Globally, the Nitro 5 comes in AMD configurations up to a Ryzen 9 5900HX and RTX 3080 Laptop GPU while the Intel SKUs can be specced up to the Core i7-11370H. Indian buyers will also be missing out on the 17.6-inch screen size and also on QHD 165 Hz and FHD 360 Hz display options. Here's hoping Acer will offer these configuration choices as well in the weeks ahead.
