New Linux graphics kernel patches with USB4 DisplayPort Tunneling are now available from AMD. The tunneling feature allows the USB, DisplayPort and PCIe transfer protocols to operate simultaneously by sharing the available bandwidth. For now, only the DisplayPort 1.4 specs are supported with AMD's tunneling drivers. Hopefully, DisplayPort 2.0 specs could be added by the time AMD introduces its next gen embedded and laptop solutions in early 2022.

AMD's Ryzen 5000 processors with the new B2 stepping may not offer any improvements in terms of performance, but they could possibly improve the availability and supply of these hard to get gaming CPUs.

Some AMD customers are asking for ARM-based processors, and AMD is willing to fulfill this demand. Moreover, AMD seems to be open to explore other architectures like RISC-V, as well. The ThinkBook 16p attempts to strike a balance, and it doesn't do a bad job - but you have to accept compromises here as well.

YouTuber Moore's Law Is Dead has heard from his sources that Microsoft has a new Xbox Series S in store for us. It is slated to use an APU based on TSMC's 6N node, which will ship with additional CUs. The console will allegedly hit shelves in late 2022 for around US$350.

Lenovo has upgraded its Yoga Slim 7 Pro offerings to AMD Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 Cezanne APUs and optional Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 graphics. Lenovo said that the Ryzen 7 5800H in the Yoga Slim 7 Pro can be configured to operate at an 80 W TDP. The device also offers 2.5K 16:10 IPS display options with up to a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Lenovo has launched the Yoga Slim 7 Carbon, an AMD Ryzen 5000 version of the Yoga Slim 7i Carbon that was based on Intel Tiger Lake. The Yoga Slim 7 Carbon features a dedicated Nvidia MX450 GPU (optional), 14-inch QHD+ OLED display, and Lenovo's AI Core capabilities.

The Chuwi RZBOX measures just 19.15 x 19.15 x 6.09 mm, and yet it contains an AMD Ryzen 9 4900H, a 45 W APU. The RZBOX will start at about US$500 and will be available with 16 GB of RAM with 512 GB of storage.
