RedmiBook Pro 14 2022: Xiaomi teases new AMD Ryzen Edition ahead of May 24 announcement with Ryzen 6000 H-series APUs
Xiaomi has revealed plans to launch a new version of the RedmiBook Pro 14 2022. Due for release on May 24 alongside the Band 7 and the Redmi Note 11T series, the RedmiBook Pro 14 2022 initially launched as an Intel-exclusive machine with Alder Lake-H series processors. Incidentally, Xiaomi also revealed an Intel version of the RedmiBook Pro 15 2022 in March.
As Xiaomi's teaser below shows, the next version of the RedmiBook Pro 14 2022 will be an AMD Ryzen Edition. For context, Xiaomi sells the RedmiBook Pro 14 2021 with the Ryzen 5 5500U or Ryzen 7 5700U, a pair of Lucienne APUs based on Zen 2 cores with 25 W TDPs. In comparison, Xiaomi has confirmed that this year's model will rely on the Ryzen 6000H series, all 45 W parts unless actually means the HS series, which peak at 35 W.
Still, even the Ryzen 5 6600HS should deliver significant performance improvements over the Ryzen 7 5700U. For reference, all Ryzen 6000H series APUs contain Zen 3+ CPU cores, plus RDNA 2-based iGPUs. Presumably, AMD will offer this year's AMD Ryzen Edition with dedicated GPU options, although this only extends to the GeForce MX550 for the Intel model.
Incidentally, Xiaomi mentions that the new RedmiBook Pro 14 2022 will be orderable from June 1. If the Ryzen Edition is anything like its Intel counterpart, Xiaomi will equip it with a 2.5K panel that outputs at up to 120 Hz with 100% sRGB colour space coverage. Pricing remains unknown at this stage, although the Intel model costs up to CNY 9,599 (~US$1,430).
