Xiaomi has confirmed that it will soon offer an updated Redmi G, having refreshed the laptop in February. Curiously, the new Redmi G will be marketed as the Redmi G 2022, suggesting substantial upgrades from the Redmi G 2021. However, the next Redmi G will continue to rely on Intel Alder Lake processors; there are no successors to NVIDIA RTX 30 series GPUs yet either.
Instead, Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi G 2022 will feature an upgraded display. Additionally, it seems that the new model will have a revised chassis. For example, there appears to be an SD card reader on the Redmi G 2022, missing from its predecessor. Moreover, there is less spce beside the keyboard deck, implying that the Redmi G has shrunk a touch too. Thinner display bezels support this, although the Redmi G 2022 will feature a 16-inch panel.
According to Xiaomi's teasers, the Redmi G 2022 will sport a 16:10 display, up from 16:9 in the Redmi G 2021. Likewise, the display will operate at 2.5K, presumably 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, while also delivering a 165 Hz refresh rate. Incidentally, Xiaomi has hinted that the display will offer 500 nits of peak brightness with Delta E <1.5 deviations too. To be announced tomorrow, the Redmi G 2022 will be available with a new Intel Core i5 processor from July 27.
