Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro 14 2022 Ryzen Edition arrives with AMD Ryzen 5 6600H and Ryzen 7 6800H APU options
Xiaomi has introduced the RedmiBook Pro 14 2022 Ryzen Edition, a laptop that the company began teasing earlier this week. As expected, the RedmiBook Pro 14 2022 relies on AMD 6000H-series APUs, a massive improvement on the Ryzen 5 5500U and Ryzen 7 5700U found in last year's model. Better yet, Xiaomi has equipped the 14-inch laptop with 45 W APUs, not 35 W alternatives like the Ryzen 5 6600HS.
Specifically, Xiaomi has built this year's Ryzen Edition around the Ryzen 5 6600H and Ryzen 7 6800H, which feature 6 and 8 Zen 3+ CPU cores, respectively. Additionally, the pair rely on AMD's RDNA 2 architecture for their iGPUs, a signficant change from the Vega iGPUs found in the Ryzen 5 5500U and Ryzen 7 5700U. As is well documented, the Ryzen 5 6600H and Ryzen 7 6800H come with the Radeon 660M and Radeon 680M. While both RDNA 2 iGPUs, the Radeon 660M has 6 Compute Units (CUs), half the volume that the Radeon 680M has.
Elsewhere, Xiaomi equips both configurations with 16 GB of LPDDR5 dual-channel RAM and a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 SSD. Moreover, Xiaomi includes a 56 Wh battery that can be recharged at up to 100 W via USB Type-C and twin 2 W speakers, along with USB Type-A, Type-C, HDMI 2.0 and 3.5 mm connections. Furthermore, the 315.6 x 220.4 x 15.9 mm and 1.45 kg device has a 2,560 x 1,600-pixel display that operates at up to 120 Hz.
Sadly, the display peaks at 300 nits and only offers a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. The RedmiBook Pro 14 2022 Ryzen Edition starts at CNY 5,299 (~US$797) for the Ryzen 5 6600H model and rises to CNY 5,899 (~US$887) if you want the Ryzen 7 6800H version. Xiaomi has not confirmed whether it will launch the new Ryzen Edition outside China, though.
