Redmi Book Pro 15 2023 thin and light laptop with Ryzen 7 7840HS now available for ~US$670 in China

Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi recently updated its Book Pro ultrabooks lineup with an All-AMD 15-inch model. The new Book Pro 15 Ryzen Edition features AMD’s highly acclaimed Phoenix APUs, which is not paired with any dGPU, given its thin and light form-factor that rivals Apple’s MacBook Air. Pricing is extremely competitive at around US$670, but this one is only available in China for the time being.

At the heart of the Book Pro 15 lies the Ryzen 7 7840HS APU with 8 cores / 16 threads and an integrated Radeon 780M graphics accelerator. Additionally, these are AMD’s first mobile APUs to feature dedicated AI acceleration with the new XDNA cores from Xilinx. Complementing the processor are 16 GB of LPDDR5-6400 RAM along with a 512 GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD.

On the display side we find a high-quality 15.6-inch 3.2K IPS screen with 120 Hz refresh rate, 500 nit max brightness, HDR 400 + Dolby Vision certification, and 100% sRGB color gamut plus factory color pre-calibration.

Redmi updated the cooling system with dual 8 mm heatpipes in order to improve heat dissipation for the new APUs. The chassis lightness has also been improved with the adoption of the latest CNC aerospace-grade aluminum alloy.

Port selection comes with 2x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 connectors (one used for charging), 1x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, HDMI 2.1 video out, audio jack and a full-size SD card reader. Wireless connectivity is offered through a Wi-Fi 6 + BT 5.2 card. Also included are a 1080p webcam, Dolby Atmos audio, system, and a 72 Wh battery with 100 W GaN fast charger.

Windows 11 Home is pre-installed with Xoamim’s Mi Enjoy suite that supports mobile phone mirroring, one-click hot-spot, keyboard and mouse sharing plus tablet screen sharing.
