Victus by HP 15 now available in Alder Lake-H-RTX 3050 Ti and Ryzen 5000H-RX 6500M combinations with improved thermals, starts from US$800

HP introduced the Victus line last year with an aim of making gaming accessible to more people at lower price points without huge compromises. The HP Victus 16 came across as a capable gaming laptop for the masses in our review. Today, HP is introducing a more compact Victus 15 with upgraded internals in both Intel and AMD versions.

Both the Victus 15 Intel and AMD variants feature full-function keyboards with integrated Omen Gaming Hub key, larger touchpads, HD camera with temporal noise reduction, and an updated thermal design.

HP claims that the new Victus 15 offers improved cooling with an overall 7% better airflow, 24% rear outlet open ratio, and a 146% improvement to the inlet vent area.

Victus by HP 15 Intel

The HP Victus 15 Intel variant offers CPU options including the Intel 12th gen Core i5-12500H and the Core i7-12700H. Dual-channel 8 GB DDR4-3200, which can be configured up to 16 GB, is paired with the CPU. Driving visuals on the FHD 144 Hz FHD anti-glare 250-nit IPS display is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU with 4 GB of GDDR6 VRAM. A 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD comes in the default configuration.

Connectivity needs are taken care of by a 2x2 Wi-Fi 6 module with Bluetooth. I/O include 1x 5 Gbps USB Type-C, 2x 5 Gbps USB Type-A, 1x RJ-45, 1x HDMI 2.1, and a combo audio jack. A 4-cell 70 Wh battery, which HP claims can offer up to 9 hours of video playback, powers the device.

Victus by HP 15 AMD

The AMD version does not yet offer Ryzen 6000 APUs but comes with options of a Ryzen 5 5600H or a Ryzen 7 5800H together with Radeon RX 6500M discrete graphics. Rest of the configuration is nearly identical to the Victus 15 Intel version. The Victus 15 AMD may also offer a FHD 144 Hz panel like its Intel cousin, but HP indicates only a conventional 60 Hz panel in the spec sheet.

Battery capacity is also reduced in the AMD variant with a 3-cell 52.5 Wh battery, but HP claims this can offer up to 11.5 hours of video playback. 

The HP Victus 15 will be available from summer in Mica Silver, Ceramic White, and Performance Blue color options starting from US$799.99.
