Asus refreshed many of its existing laptops with a shiny new OLED screen and current-generation processors from Intel and AMD. The display specs on both SKUs are quite different, especially when it comes to the aspect ratio. However, everything else is more or less identical across the board, with a few changes here and there due to different processor brands.
Starting with the choice of processors, the Asus Vivobook S 14 and S 15 OLED are configurable with an Intel Core i7-12700H, Core i5-12500H and AMD Ryzen 7 6800H. The Intel SKUs rely on an Iris Xe iGPU, whereas the AMD variant uses a much more powerful Radeon 680M. Memory and storage choices are largely identical, with all three models supporting up to 16 GB of RAM (one DIMM soldered) and 1 TB of solid-state storage.
The Asus Vivobook S 14 OLED ships with a 14.5-inch 2.8K (2880 x 1800) panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 90Hz refresh rate. The Vivobook S 15, OLED uses a 2,880 x 1,620 (16:9 aspect ratio) variant instead. One can also configure the latter with an FHD (1,920 x 1,080) panel, both of which are clocked at 120 Hz. Everything else about the Vivobook S 14 and S 15 OLED screens remains identical, including 100% of DCI-P3 gamut coverage and 600 nits peak brightness.
Depending on the processor, the Asus Vivobook S 15 and S 14 OLED ship with two Thunderbolt 4.0 (Intel) or USB 4.0 (AMD) ports. Other connectivity options are the same, including Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. Apart from the variant with an FHD panel, all other SKUs get a 70 Wh battery that supports 90W fast charging. Both models can be bought from major online and offline stores in Q2, 2022.
