Computex 2022 | MSI introduces MEG X670E Ace, MPG X670E Carbon Wi-Fi, and Pro X670-P Wi-Fi for AMD Ryzen 7000 AM5 platform
AMD announced the Ryzen 7000 AM5 platform at Computex 2022 today, and we've been seeing motherboard manufacturers such as Asus show off their latest X670E chipset-based offerings. MSI, too, had a few X670E boards on display. These include the MEG X670E Ace, the MPG X670E Carbon Wi-Fi, and the Pro X670-P Wi-Fi.
All X670E boards offer PCIe Gen 5 transfers from both the primary GPU slot and the primary M.2 slot and DisplayPort 2.0-out from rear USB Type-C. All MSI X670 boards also support ARGB Gen2 for connecting various RGB lighting peripherals.
The rear I/O panel now offers easy ways of directly entering safe boot, one-click toggle for all RGB lights, and directly activating Turbo mode.
The MEG series, including the MEG X670E Ace and the MEG X670E Godlike, is the flagship X670E E-ATX series from MSI. The MEG X670E Ace features a 24+2 phase 105A VRM design and support for front USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C with 60 W power delivery. There's also the M-Vision Dashboard that allows touch-based customization of motherboard status along with features such as screw-less M.2 Shield Frozr and/or an M.2 Shield Frozr with magnetic design that makes easy installation and upgrading of M.2 SSDs.
The MEG series offers a stacked fin array heatsink and a heatpipe along with a MOSFET baseplate for effective heat dissipation from the VRMs. Four onboard M.2 slots are available including one PCIe Gen 5 slot. MSI additionally offers an M.2 Xpander-Z add-on card in the box that provides for two additional PCIe Gen 5 x4 M.2 slots.
The MPG series is aimed at more mainstream gamers. The MPG X670E Carbon Wi-Fi offers 2x PCIe Gen 5 x16 slots and 4x M.2 slots. There's an 18+2 90A VRM power phase system, which is cooled by an extended heatsink.
We then have the Pro X670-P Wi-Fi with 14+2 Duet Rail phases and dual 8-pin connectors. The Pro X670-P offers 1x M.2 PCIe Gen 5, 2.5G LAN, and Wi-Fi 6E.
MSI said that other AM5 boards will be revealed in the run up to availability this Fall.
