AMD has finally agreed on a settlement for the false advertising of its Bulldozer and Piledriver processors, after eight years of litigation. Claimants will be eligible to draw from a pot of up to US$12.1 million, but there are certain caveats including from where you bought the processor and which SKU you bought.

AMD seems to be taking aim at the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 16xx series, with the company potentially bringing a fourth Navi 14 GPU to market. The information comes courtesy of another Compubench listing, with the 3 GB SKU possibly sitting somewhere between the GeForce GTX 1650 and the older GeForce GTX 1050.

Some consumers may have found that having a 4K display does not always result in pin-sharp content. This is because 1080p image data is not always scaled effectively to match the more up-to-date resolution. NVIDIA has addressed this by introducing integer scaling in its latest Game Ready Drivers update.

With a gaming performance comparable to the more affordable RX 5700 XT, the Radeon VII GPU is already put on EOL status after a short-lived 6 months. Still, the high-end GPU is a solid option for heavy compute tasks and demanding renderings, so the remaining stocks may eventually end up in select workstations.

AMD has released Radeon Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.8.2, an update that adds compatibility with HDCP 2.3 on the RX 5700 series of graphics cards. It also boosts performance while playing Control using DirectX 11 compared to the previous version of this driver. 19.8.2 may also address a range of glitches associated with this version.

The Navi 14 leaks keep on coming, with a new set of benchmark listings revealing more information about the upcoming 8 GB SKU. Early indications are that the 8 GB Navi 14 GPU, codenamed the GFX1012, will have a 1.9 GHz boost clock and 24 CUs like its 4 GB sibling, but that it will have significantly better performance than previous benchmark listings suggested. The GPU may still nestle between the GeForce GTX 1650 and GeForce GTX 1660 though, with the latter having a significant edge over the Navi 14 in Compubench.

AMD is set to take on Intel's budget Core i5 desktop processors according to a new leak. The new CPU, called the Ryzen 5 3500, apparently outperforms the Core i5-9400 and Ryzen 5 1500X in 3DMark too.

AMD chief Dr. Lisa Su delivered a keynote at the Hot Chips conference earlier this week and spoke about the company's plans for HPC and exascale computing. Dr. Su also reiterated that CrossFire multi-GPU support is no longer a focus and that more information about Threadripper 3000 will be available later this year.

The Ryzen 5 3550U may be another mobile Ryzen 3000 series APU, but not all is as it seems. A recent Geekbench listing shows that the processor is capable of even outscoring the Ryzen 7 3750H in multicore tasks. However, it appears that AMD is still incapable of narrowing the gap to Intel's Whiskey Lake generation, putting somewhat of a dampener on the Ryzen 5 3550U.

A new entry of what appears to be an AMD Navi 14 GPU variant has surfaced on CompuBench. The new Navi 14 listing shows the device ID as AMD 7341:00 sporting 24 CUs, 8 GB VRAM, and a max clock of 1,900 MHz. From the CompuBench listing, we see that Navi 14 offers good OpenCL performance and could eventually replace the Polaris-based Radeon RX 570.

Purported details of the AMD Ryzen 9 3900 processor have been posted on Twitter. The Ryzen 3000 series chip has not been officially announced yet, but it seems this particular SKU could be a 65-W TDP variant as opposed to the Ryzen 9 3900X with its 105 W TDP. The latest chip is expected to have 12 cores and 24 threads.

It has been a few months since there were rumblings online about AMD integrating a new Radeon RX Vega GPU on an upcoming Ryzen 3000 series APU. Now, reliable leaker @TUM_APISAK has spotted a Geekbench listing confirming the existence of an RX Vega 8 with 9 compute units, ergo an RX Vega 9. The upcoming integrated GPU looks mighty powerful, with it even having an edge of some dedicated cards.

The new Radeon 600 series is practically a rebranded Radeon 500 lineup that, unfortunately does not feature any 7 nm models. Instead, AMD has "refreshed" two 14 nm and three 28 nm GPU models aimed at the entry-level desktop and laptop market, just in time for the arrival of Intel's Gen 10 mobility CPUs.

Disabling SMT in the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X does have some benefits in improving average frame rates in a few titles bringing the processor much closer to the results posted by the Intel Core i9-9900K at stock settings, according to game benchmarks run by TechSpot. UPDATE 8/2: Intel has responded with a clarification of Raja Koduri's statement. See below. In a recent interview with a Russian YouTube tech channel, Raja Koduri (chief architect at Intel) stated that Intel's upcoming Xe GPU will start at a competitive $200 and that at least some models will use HBM. While it's unlikely that the $200 entry-level Xe GPUs will have HBM (due to the high cost of HBM), the GPUs are looking more competitive than ever.

Internal Asus documents point to at least two AMD X590 boards in development. This was confirmed by an Asus source to Videocardz. Not much is known about the X590 chipset at the moment apart from the fact that AMD could be aligning its launch to that of the 16C/32T Ryzen 9 3950X in September. Also on the anvil is an AMD X599 Zenith II Extreme for the upcoming Threadripper 3000 series.

AMD's VP of Radeon Scott Herkelman recently revealed in an interview that the company keenly observed NVIDIA's launch of the RTX 20 Super series and revised the pricing of the new RX 5700 series GPUs to undercut NVIDIA's RTX 2060 and 2070 Super GPUs. An overclocked AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT can give good competition to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 in synthetic benchmarks as was discovered by a Redditor who managed to crank up the 5700 XT all the way to 2.1 GHz. Well, well, well. We might have just got our first sight of an AMD Threadripper 3000 series processor, courtesy of a posting on UserBenchmark. The processor, which we expect to see before the end of the year, is compatible with the TR4 socket and existing X399-based motherboards. A PC hardware simulation of the upcoming Sony PlayStation 5's purported hardware specs offers some insights into the likely performance and power draws that can be expected from the console.
