The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has published a patent application for “Luminescence shock avoidance in display devices” that was filed by Apple in December 2017. Luminescence shock occurs when a device is turned on in a dark environment and the brightness of the display temporarily impairs the user’s vision.

HP has unveiled its latest Chromebook offering with the Chromebook x2. It is the first Chromebook to be offered in a detachable form factor and is powered by the Intel 7th generation Core m3 processor that can be paired with up to 8 GB LPDDR3 RAM. Doogee’s Mix 4 prototype smartphone has been unveiled on a popular YouTube channel, and it seems the Shenzhen-based company has come up with a novel way of discarding the controversial notch. The Mix 4 device has a mechanical slider, allowing the front-facing camera to be neatly placed behind the display when not in use.

Among HP's refreshed ZBook line of portable workstations is the ZBook 15V, which HP is aiming squarely at a broader consumer market. The workstation, which starts at USD $950, can be specced with up to an Intel Core i7-8750H or Xeon E-2176M CPU and quite a few other powerful components.

Dell has announced refreshes of the Inspiron 24 5000 AIO and Inspiron 27 7000 AIO bringing Intel 8th Gen processors and Nvidia 10-series graphics. Display options include matte touch screens and 4k UHD. Dell is placing an emphasis on the multimedia capabilities of these AIOs, particularly the 27-inch model.

A Samsung Engineer leaked the fact that he has been working on the next gen Exynos 9820 since January 2018 on his LinkedIn profile. Additionally, the same engineer has been working on a 5G RF chip that is expected to be integrated directly in the Exynos 9820 ever since May 2017. These chips are expected to debut in early 2019.
