We reported last week that OnePlus would be hosting public "pop-up" events in select cities around the globe where visitors can all purchase the OnePlus 6 in person before it launches for the rest of the world. At least one of these events proved to be very popular when we decided to stop by to see what was on show.
The OnePlus launch event in downtown San Francisco was relatively small in terms of venue size, but crowd sizes were large even after a full hour into the event. Long lines of customers were forced to wait outside in the cold until they were allowed to enter - only to be met with another long line inside of the venue for actually purchasing the OnePlus 6. Patient visitors were rewarded with free swag while waiting including ice cream, caps, and backpacks while those who only wanted to handle the smartphone could do so along stalls and tables.
For better or worse, OnePlus has always been notable for its ability to build hype around its flagship smartphones. It certainly has its fans as well as its detractors who may find the screen notch derivative.
The OnePlus 6 will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow through the official OnePlus online store with prices ranging from $530 up to $630. It's astonishing how OnePlus can continue to launch flagship smartphones for hundreds of Dollars less while being generally comparable to the pricier flagships of Samsung, Apple, and Huawei.
Expect our full review on the OnePlus 6 very soon.
