OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Limited Edition gets a teaser video
If you have dreamed of having a smartphone made from Vibranium, the fictional metal from the Marvel universe that can absorb kinetic energy and all vibrations directed towards it, OnePlus may have created the next best thing. The Chinese company has just teased a Marvel Avengers Limited Edition variant of the forthcoming OnePlus 6. While it isn’t exactly made out of Vibranium, the rear of the device has been given a special texture that looks like the Vibranium suit worn by the Black Panther.
At present, the OnePlus 6 Marvel Avengers Limited Edition is going to be an Amazon India exclusive. It will launch on the subcontinent on May 17, roughly the same time the standard model goes global on May 16 for the rest of the world. There are unconfirmed rumors that it the Limited Edition model could surface in other markets, though details are scant at this time. Given the wild popularity of the Avengers Infinity War film and the increasing popularity of the OnePlus 6, the company can probably expect an outcry if it doesn’t make the Limited Edition model available elsewhere too.
Other than the specially textured back of the Marvel Avengers Limited Edition model, there is no indication that its internals differ from the regular OnePlus 6 from the teaser embedded below. To this extent, its rumored specs include a 6.28-inch notched AMOLED display with support for the DCI-P3 color gamut. Expect a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mated to either 6 or 8 GB of RAM storage options up to 256 GB. It will run the company’s Oxygen OS, which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It is expected to be the most expensive OnePlus handset to date, fetching at least US$700, with the Limited Edition variant likely costing more still.
