An official gameplay trailer for Rage 2 has been released by Bethesda Softworks, and it is bound to delight fans of the first game. The first-person shooter has been developed in conjunction with id Software and Avalanche Studios, and it is expected to be launched in 2019 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms.

Maryland-based video-game publisher Bethesda Softworks has updated the official page for Rage 2 with a gameplay trailer and some details about the upcoming title. According to the game’s description, an asteroid has wiped out most of humanity, leaving the survivors to form gangs hell-bent on protecting (or taking) territory by all means necessary. The player takes on the role of Walker, the last of the Vineland Rangers. Along with taking out any threats he may stumble across during the game, Walker also has to contend with The Authority organization and its leader, General Cross.

Unsurprisingly, the gameplay trailer is a ferocious mixture of mayhem and pandemonium as a number of different terrains (jungle, desert, swamp, etc.) are torn apart by vehicles spewing gunfire, massive trolls that seem to have wandered straight out of Middle-earth, and the kind of mecha that wouldn’t look out of place shooting up Na’vi warriors on Pandora. It’s sort of Mad Max meets Walker, Texas Ranger with less narrative and more explosions.

Rage 2 will be launched for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One sometime in 2019. Bethesda plans to reveal more details about the game at the BE3 Showcase on June 10.
