Don't count on playing The Elder Scrolls VI anytime soon
While most of the gaming world is looking forward to the impending release of Fallout 76, some diehard fans can’t wait to get their hands on the next installment of the Elder Scrolls. Sorry to disappoint, guys and gals, but it looks like you’ll be waiting for a while.
In a recent interview at PAX Australia with Gamespot, Pete Hines, Bethesda’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications, said that The Elder Scrolls VI (as well as the Sci-Fi RPG Starfield) won’t be released anytime soon. Calling The Elder Scrolls VI “big and ambitious,” Hines quickly pointed out that the “timeline between products that you get from BGS is not any different than it has been historically just because we’ve talked about two games after Fallout 76.” In other words, TES VI will be ready when it’s ready.
Current estimates from the gaming press are for a 2022 or 2023 release date, which is a sizable gap from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Fans should keep in mind that Bethesda has quite a few plates spinning at the moment, so focus isn’t on the next Elder Scrolls game. The studio is releasing Fallout 76, a massive multiplayer RPG, in about two weeks. This is in addition to the numerous ports of Skyrim that has kept the studio busy over the years and new experiments like Elder Scrolls Blades, set to come to iOS later this year.
