The Elder Scrolls 6 has been in development for a while, but gamers will have to wait a bit longer to explore the world that Bethesda is crafting. Sadly, PlayStation 5 gamers are getting burned.
In documents related to the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) case against Microsoft concerning the latter's buyout of Activision Blizzard lies an interesting page. Axios' Stephen Totilo tweeted out a screenshot of the page, which details the expected release dates and platforms for a variety of games developed by Bethesda.
At the end of the table of games is The Elder Scrolls VI (or The Elder Scrolls 6), which has an expected release date of "2026 or later."
Just below the release date is a row of platforms on which the game will release. For The Elder Scrolls 6, only Xbox and PC are listed. As such, it is implied that the game will not be available on the PS5 (at least, not at launch).
Microsoft has not yet commented on this information.
This has been the case for some of Bethesda's recent releases, including Starfield, which released only on Xbox and PC.
Considering The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced back in 2018, this news would mark the game's development at a minimum of eight years, which is a fairly lengthy development cycle. The fact that it won't debut on Sony's home console may come as a blow to PlayStation fans, but the game may eventually make its way to other platforms.
Keep in mind that this release window merely reflects Bethesda's plans at the time the table was made. It could be that Bethesda changes course and opts to release The Elder Scrolls 6 on multiple platforms, but considering the company's recent track record, it is unlikely.
