The third trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 has been released, and it shows off the American frontier setting gamers can expect to find themselves in when the title is finally launched in October. The game is set in 1899, when the Wild West has almost been fully tamed and outlaws are being hunted down and ruthlessly subjugated or eradicated. The trailer is focused on the story and characters, so there seems to be little actual gameplay footage. However, there are plenty of brawls and action events such as train heists and armed robberies.
Red Dead Redemption was released in 2010 and became a massive hit for the publisher Rockstar Games. Over 15 million copies of the game were shipped, and it won numerous accolades. The title was met with critical acclaim, with it being frequently described as Grand Theft Auto in the Old West. The new game is a prequel to the 2010 smash hit, which was set 12 years later.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will actually be the third title in the Red Dead series. Red Dead Revolver was the first game in the franchise, released in 2004 for the PS2 and Xbox.
