A report from Kotaku about the video-game company Hangar 13 has mentioned the development of a new BioShock game. BioShock Infinite was the last release in the popular series from 2K Games, and that title came out in 2013. There has been no official announcement about the game yet, which is apparently codenamed “Parkside.”

An article on Kotaku detailing the problems at Hangar 13 seems to have revealed an exciting work in progress: A new BioShock game. The report states that development on the title is under way at a secret location in San Francisco. Very little is actually known about the possible BioShock sequel, apart from the fact that a new 2K Games studio is involved and the project is operating under the codename “Parkside.”

The original BioShock was released in 2007, with BioShock 2 coming three years later, in 2010. BioShock Infinite also had a three-year gap between itself and its predecessor, meaning a new BioShock title is well overdue. All three games were very positively received and have sold over 25 million copies between them worldwide. It seems likely a new game in the series would be met with similar enthusiasm as long as it could match the high expectations BioShock fans will have.

Take-Two Interactive, which wholly owns 2K Games, has previously hinted at a major franchise release occurring by March 2019. However, it has been speculated that this would most likely be Borderlands 3. Fans of BioShock may have to wait a bit longer.
