Although first devices with UFS 3.0 memory onboard should arrive later this year, what appears to be the first benchmark of this new memory standard has surfaced online. According to this benchmark, an unnamed UFS 3.0 solution managed to hit a sequential read speed of over 2,200 MB/s, more than 1,800 MB/s sequential write, and more than 34K IOPS random read/write operations.

Samsung patent shows electronic device with two magnetically connected smartphones

A patent application made to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) has been found that shows an electronic device consisting of two smartphones being linked magnetically. The patent, which was published on January 3, was originally filed by Samsung. The smartphone parts would contain holder magnets and a cylindrical magnet, allowing users to connect them for activities such as video-watching and gaming.

Apple may not be at CES this year; however, that hasn’t stopped them poking fun at other companies who are likely to present at the show. A billboard that was almost certainly commissioned by the Cupertino giant had appeared on an exterior face of the Marriott Hotel in Las Vegas on January 5, 2019. An official Huawei Twitter account (@Huawei) has been caught sending its celebratory New Year's message from an iPhone. It was quickly picked up by the vlogger MKBHD on his own Twitter feed. A Reuters report claims that the employees responsible for this mishap had been fined and sanctioned by the company, as it "damaged the Huawei brand".

The Xiaomi Mi 9 is likely to be the OEM's 2019 flagship. Earlier leaks indicated that it will incorporate a triple-camera set-up, as well as the Snapdragon 855. The M10’s measurements have been specified at a length of 155.7 mm and a width of 75.88 mm, and the display diagonal has been confirmed as 153.2 mm, which is equivalent to 6.03 inches.

This practice obviously raises some questions of legality, although it is difficult to say who is to blame for the violation of user privacy.

Man claims iPhone XS Max exploded in his pants pocket

An article published by iDrop News reports than an Ohio man has suffered injury from his iPhone XS Max catching fire whilst in the back pocket of his pants. Apparently, the device was completely destroyed in the incident, and the blaze also damaged his pants and burned the skin of his buttocks. It seems the individual is now considering legal action against Apple.

Google denies apparent withdrawal of Android One 2-year update pledge

The Android One program is becoming increasingly popular due to the apparent certainty of two years' worth of regular updates for the phones sold under it. Recently, however, Google has removed the text to this effect from the Android website, leading to user fears that this pledge was being rescinded. However, the company has asserted that this is not the case.
