Smartphone with 108 MP camera and 10x optical zoom apparently coming in 2020; Samsung Galaxy S11 suggested
We are used to Ice universe delivering fascinating tips and leaks about a whole bevy of flagship smartphones, but one of his latest tweets takes the biscuit in terms of grand claims. The leaker has tweeted the message “by the way, next year you will see on your smartphone: a 10x optical zoom camera and a 108 MP camera”. No cryptic conundrums, no mysterious monologues; just a straightforward forecast of what we can expect to enjoy in 2020.
There is a picture attached to the tweet that appears to show a smartphone with Samsung’s Infinity-O punch-hole camera solution, which naturally has led many to posit that Ice universe is most likely referring to the Galaxy S11 flagship series. The post even attracted the attention of noted tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee (MKHBD), who simply responded with the eyes emoji.
Other suggestions for this 108 MP camera-toting device capable of 10x optical zoom included a Xiaomi Mi Mix 5, a P40 Pro, and even a Galaxy Note 11. However, the general consensus points to the Samsung Galaxy S11 featuring these monster camera specifications. Of course, the 108 MP claim could refer to the total of the setup, i.e. 48 MP + 48 MP + 12 MP or similar. A recent concept render of the S11 showed a quad-camera setup on the rear, which could easily amount to 108 MP, especially if it featured Samsung’s new 64 MP or 48 MP sensors.
