Samsung Galaxy S11 news: Model numbers for three 5G-capable SKUs leaked; no full-screen display coming
Now the Galaxy S10 family and the Note 10 series have been fully delivered, it seems a good time to turn the focus back onto the next non-foldable flagship smartphone expected from Samsung in the form of the S11. We have already reported on various details about the series, and it appears the model numbers for three different SKUs have appeared online – and they are all 5G capable according to the social media post.
Samsung may be planning on treating fans of the Galaxy S range to not only a regular Samsung Galaxy S11 and a Plus size model but also to an S11e variant, following the theme of the previous iteration. Apparently, the model numbers for the smartphones, which will all benefit from 5G technology, are SM-G9810 for the S11e, SM-G9860 for the S11, and SM-G9880 for the S11+.
The knowledge that the Samsung Galaxy S11 series will be all set to enjoy 5G communication will certainly please plenty of fans, but those hoping for a flawless unbroken screen will be disappointed. According to noted leaker Ice universe, the South Korean manufacturer is working on under-display camera technology but it won’t feature on the S11 series of smartphones. Buyers of the Galaxy S11 SKUs will have to settle for punch-hole or pill-shaped cut-out solutions for the selfie camera while envying owners of full-screen rivals.
It hasn’t been stated which device will receive the full-screen treatment from Samsung, although Ice universe has categorically stated that it won’t be the Galaxy S11 or Fold 2. This has left many to opine that it will be either the Note 11 or a member of the often experimental Samsung Galaxy A series that will be the first device from the company to completely kill off the unloved notch.
