Samsung Galaxy S10 is more like the Note 10 than ever thanks to latest software update

Teaser
Samsung is bringing a few Galaxy Note 10-exclusive features to the Galaxy S10 line. The update improves system-wide and picture-specific search and an Auto Hotspot feature that can automate connecting a device with a Samsung account to a Galaxy S10's hotspot. The update is rolling out, though the release timeline varies based on country.

Do you want a Galaxy Note 10 but can’t afford the high price? Depending on the features you want, you may be in luck. A recent software update brings a few exclusive features of the Galaxy Note 10 to the cheaper Galaxy S10 family.

The new update includes a keyword search feature in the Samsung Gallery app and an Auto Hotspot settings to the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10 5G, Galaxy S10+, and Galaxy S10e. The new search feature in the Gallery app allows users to use keywords to quickly search for photos and other media. The search tool also improves system-wide searches and recommendations. The Auto Hotspot feature will automatically search for other devices with the user’s Samsung account and connect them to the internet via their handset’s hotspot (if needed). This can be a time-saving nicety for those on the go.

This is the second time Samsung has brought Note 10-exclusive features to the Galaxy S10 series. Back in September, the Korean company rolled out a software update for the S10 series that brought AR Doodle, DeX, and Link for Windows support. While all of these updates are admittedly niche features, it is nice to see Samsung bridge the gap between the more generalized Galaxy S10 series and the high-powered (but expensive) Note 10.

The update is currently rolling out. According the Samsung, deployment will vary by country but should be available for most Galaxy S10 users before year's end.

If you own a Galaxy S10, have you received this update? Are these features you are interested in using? Let us know in the comments.
