Retailer listing for PlayStation 5 offers latest suggestions for potential price and release date
A Slovakian retailer called ProGamingShop has added the PS5 on its website, giving gamers the opportunity to be notified when there is new information about the next addition to the PlayStation lineup. There is a price, a release date, and even pictures of the console and controller – but before you get excited and browse over to the site, there is nothing new in regard to the images at least. The image of the DualShock 5 controller is one that has been doing the rounds online for some time now, and the picture of the console itself is a well-known artistic representation based on patent drawings.
However, even though the retailer has used a familiar concept render from LetsGoDigital, which is more than likely how the devkit looks as opposed to the actual final PS5 console, there is some newsworthy detail about how much the company thinks the device will cost: €499.99 (US$558/£430/AUD$814/₹39,737). It’s a reasonable guess, as many speculators have hit around a similar mark for their estimates, and a recent poll suggested gamers would be comfortable spending this amount for a console with the kind of hardware that the PlayStation 5 will sport.
ProGamingShop has also plumped for a speculative shot at the PS5’s release date: December 4, 2020. The company is careful to point out that information about the console is not finalized and could change, but like the price it seems to be a reasonable prediction of what could end up being reality. Sony has already shared that the PlayStation 5 should see the light of day for “Holiday 2020” and December 4 next year lands on a Friday. The PS4 was released on November 15, 2013 for the North American market and November 29, 2013 for the PAL region, both of which were, of course, Fridays.
