"Leaked" PlayStation 5 devkit and DualShock controller images fuel speculation
Quite a few images of “DualShock 5” controllers and PlayStation 5 devkits have started circulating on the Internet, but it seems the general consensus in regard to these leaked photos is that they are all fake. Obviously, gamers are anxious to hear actual news about the next generation of PlayStation console, which if you believe the rumors, is looking like it will be an incredible machine.
But what about the recent leaked pictures? Tech editor Ray Sekiro shared an image of a supposed DualShock 5 controller on Twitter that has garnered significant attention. In fact, there are quite a few available pictures of what is alleged to be the controller for the PlayStation 5 and they do look remarkably similar. Of course, those commenting on the images can cry out “photoshopped” or “3D printed” and they are probably correct, but what if just one of them is a legitimate piece of prototype PS5 hardware that has been sneakily photographed? Not likely.
There are even a couple of shots of alleged PlayStation 5 devkits to be found, and it’s unsurprising these have already been labeled fake because of the way they look. It seems there are general expectations for the console and its controller though: USB 3.0 and USB Type-C connectivity, controller screen, touch bar, controller speakers – the same features keep cropping up. But most of the “leaks” have already been debunked by people in the know, so what we are left with is what fans are hoping Sony is working on, regardless of how tempting it is to follow the white rabbit.
