The Asus Zenfone 6 was released a few months ago and is widely considered to be one of the best value flagships on the market right now, competing against the Mi 9 and OnePlus 7. Asus appears to have gotten the gist of the matter, as the Zenfone 6 is seeing some really good community development support right now, with major pros for the device including a Google Camera port, LineageOS 16 ROM, and a custom kernel.
The Asus Zenfone 6 was launched a few months ago and has been hailed for its innovative swiveling camera setup and high performance to price ratio. The device has yet to be released in the US officially but that doesn't appear to have affected community support at all.
The Zenfone 6, a few weeks ago, got a fully working Google Camera port that improved on an already impressive camera setup. The device has now also had its first LineageOS 16 ROM ported, alongside a custom kernel.
The LineageOS ROM is unofficial for now, and can be flashed using fastboot. Bugs like Google hotword detection, double tap to wake, and Bluetooth A2DP have been fixed but there are still issues with LTE connectivity. The camera motor also works on the ROM.
Asus appears to be trying to appeal to the enthusiast crowd with the Zenfone 6, and it sure is working. For one, the Zenfone 6 is one of a select few flagships that run on stock Android. Or as close to stock as possible. That, added to the fact that community support for the device appears to be blossoming, makes it a great option for power users.
