Rumored clockspeeds leak for 4.8 GHz AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT, 4.7 GHz Ryzen 7 3700XT and Ryzen 5 3600XT: Upclocked Matisse refresh takes on Comet Lake S i7-10700K and i9-10900K

A user on the Chiphell forums posted what appear to be base and boost clocks for the purported Ryzen 9 3900XT, Ryzen 7 3800XT, and Ryzen 5 3600XT. The CPU, which clocks up to 4.8 GHz, seems to be a short-term counter to Comet Lake S while AMD preps Ryzen 4000.

Rumor | Roadmap enlists AMD processor codenames expected till 2022; No hint of AMD Ryzen desktop CPUs indicated for 2021, but will ARM K12 be revived?

Famous leakster Komachi has enlisted a list of AMD processors across all segments that are expected to launch till 2022. The roadmap offers a great deal of info on what can be expected this year including Threadripper 4000 and Ryzen Surface Edition refreshes. What is also being indicated is that 2021 may not see HEDT or mainstream desktop CPUs. However, there are chances that AMD may revive the shelved ARM-based K12 project.

The AMD Ryzen 9 3900X could easily beat Intel's latest 10th gen Core i9-10900K in the Corona Render Test benchmark finishing nearly four minutes earlier than the latter. The Ryzen 9 3900X could do this despite running at lower clocks and lower temperatures. This is an indication that the upcoming Zen 3-based Ryzen 4000 CPUs with purported higher IPC can further dent prospects of Intel's Comet Lake-S and Rocket Lake-S offerings.

AMD announces the Radeon Pro VII as an affordable alternative to take on the NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000

AMD has taken wraps off the Radeon Pro VII workstation GPU aimed at industrial applications such as broadcasting, 8K video editing, and computer-aided engineering. The Radeon Pro VII is based on the same 7nm Vega 20 GPU as the Radeon VII and is being positioned as a cost-effective alternative for the NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000, with two such Radeon Pro VII cards being comparable to the Quadro GV100 at a price of US$1,899.

An AMD Ryzen 7 Extreme Edition APU has been spotted on 3DMark revealing some of its secrets. The chip appears to have a base clock of 1.8 GHz and is an 8-core part that can utilize 16 threads. It has been speculated that the Ryzen 7 Extreme Edition could eventually find its way into a future Microsoft Surface device.

The Ryzen 9 4900U has appeared on 3DMark again, this time sporting a 4.3 GHz boost clock. Running on an "AMD Majolica-RN" motherboard, the Ryzen 9 4900U supports SMT across its 8 cores. Previously seen on UserBenchmark and advertised with the Yoga Slim 7, AMD is yet to confirm the existence of the Ryzen 9 Renoir APU.

AMD Ryzen 4000 Zen 3 will be compatible with Socket AM4, but it is end of the road for X470, B450, and below motherboard owners

AMD's Robert Hallock has confirmed that the upcoming AMD Ryzen 4000 Zen 3 processors will be compatible with Socket AM4 as long as the motherboard features an X570 or B550 chipset. Zen 3 will not support older chipsets owing to lower space on the EEPROM of these motherboards. Future prospects of Socket AM4 depend on the industry's I/O innovation.
