Not too long ago, we reported about a Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 device being tested on 3DMark’s Fire Strike benchmark, where it took full advantage of the great AMD Ryzen 7 4800U APU working inside it. The score achieved by the new Ryzen 4000 chip was much higher than what the Intel Core i7-1065G7 could manage; both processors rely on default TDPs of 15 W but the AMD part has double the cores. We then compared the Ryzen 7 4800U with the more power-hungry Intel Core i7-10750H, which has a higher TDP but two less cores. Despite these differences, the two chips performed at a similar level in our previous report.
While the previous Fire Strike result from the AMD Ryzen 7 4800U chip in the upcoming Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 put it pretty much on par with the median results managed by the Comet Lake i7-10750H, this time around _rogame has spotted an even higher score by the Renoir APU. The latest score is 19,204 points, which actually puts the Ryzen 7 4800U ahead of the maximum result that we have managed with the i7-10750H so far (18,769 points). There's a previous/current report comparison table for the two chips below. (Note: Added data for the 8-core i7-10875H after original post for further comparison.)
This is an impressive performance yet again by the AMD Ryzen 7 4800U, especially considering the Comet Lake processor can utilize a 45 W TDP (and will actually use much more energy as it is an Intel part). No doubt the inclusion of this Ryzen 4000 APU will tempt users into a purchase of the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7, which should be released for sale on May 16. In the US market the 14-inch device is known as the IdeaPad Slim 7, but the Lenovo page for the laptop only mentions up to a Ryzen 7 4700U APU in the tech specs at the moment.
