It seems that some new white label Renoir laptops will be coming to market in the next few months. Spotted as Mechrevo machines, the two devices are unquestionably Tongfang chassis. Tongfang supplies the likes of Maingear, Mechrevo, Schenker and Wallmart with budget gaming laptops that these companies then re-brand.
According to multiple sources, there are at least two Tongfang chassis, which Mechrevo will sell as the Code 01 and S2 Air. The latter looks the spitting image of the Walmart Motile M142, suggesting that Tongfang has not made many external changes.
However, the biggest change seems to be processor-based. Whereas the Motile M142 has Ryzen 3000U APUs, the S2 Air has moved up to the Ryzen 4000H series, including the Ryzen 7 4800H. It is unclear whether the new model will retain the single-channel RAM, and 47 Wh battery of its predecessor. The 62% sRGB display found in the Motile M142 has been upgraded to a 100% sRGB panel, though.
However, the other Tongfang chassis will have space for a much larger battery. According to the image below, the Mechrevo Code 01 will have a 91 Wh battery, 16 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and a choice between the Ryzen 5 4600H and Ryzen 7 4800H. There may even be an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SKU on the cards, too.
There is no word on pricing or availability for these Mechrevo laptops at the time of writing. We would expect these Tongfang white label laptops to appear about a year after the release of their predecessors, which may well be late Q3 or early Q4 2020.
