AMD Ryzen 4000 versions of the ThinkBook 14s are on their way, according to @_rogame Tweeting to their followers today, the well-known tipster claimed that the ThinkBook 14s would be configurable with up to a Ryzen 7 4800U.
The 8 core and 7 nm processor has been tearing up benchmarking websites in recent weeks, primarily in a Yoga Slim 7. Presumably, Lenovo will offer the ThinkBook 14s with other Renoir APUs too. We imagine Lenovo will stick with the onboard Radeon RX Vega 8 (Ryzen 4000) graphics for the ThinkBook 14s, rather than the Radeon RX 540X that it offered with the previous ThinkBook 14s.
@_rogame claims that Lenovo will not be upgrading the ThinkBook 14 or ThinkBook 15 to Ryzen 4000 APUs, though. By contrast, Lenovo offers both models with Ice Lake series processors, instead. Confusingly, PSREF claims that Lenovo announced Ice Lake-U versions of the ThinkBook 14 and ThinkBook 15 in November 2019. We can find nothing about when Lenovo announced Ice Lake versions of either device, but they are shipping now. They are available to order on Amazon, too.
