Energy Star and Geekbench have confirmed that Lenovo is planning to release a Renoir refresh of the ThinkBook 14s. While we have not reviewed last year's model, the ThinkBook 13s, ThinkBook 14 and ThinkBook 15 all impressed us. Previously packing Intel Whiskey Lake processors and an AMD Radeon RX 540X dedicated GPU within its aluminium chassis, the new ThinkBook 14s will be offered with up to 8 core Zen 2 APUs.
Energy Star only confirms that the device, which carries the model number "14s-ARE : 20VB******", will be available with the Ryzen 7 4800U. However, several "LENOVO 20VB" listings have been published on Geekbench. All published on May 29, 2020, the listings show that Lenovo also plans to offer the new ThinkBook 14s with at least the Ryzen 5 4500U and Ryzen 7 4700U.
It seems that Lenovo will sell the three processor options with the choice of 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM, too. There is no indication of when Lenovo plans to release the Renoir ThinkBook 14s. However, it has been over a year since Lenovo released the last ThinkBook 14s, so the announcement of the ThinkBook 14s-ARE cannot be too far off.
