Intel Core i3 - not on the back burner. With its Intel Core i3-N305, the Maxtang MTN-ALN50 can impress with good everyday performance. Thanks to the active cooling unit, the native 8-core processor does not need to be artificially slowed down. In this review, we have analyzed how well the Maxtang MTN-ALN50 has fared against the competition and whether the price-performance ratio is right.

Lighter than the MacBook Air. Asus has updated its Zenbook 14 OLED, now making use of an even more compact and lightweight case. Even so, it still features an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H which, in turn, now demands more from the installed cooling unit. Its new 120-Hz OLED display, on the other hand, impresses with accurate colors and good HDR capabilities.

Focused. This HP gaming laptop comes with a fitting level of specs, boasting a Core i9, an RTX 4080, a PCIe 4.0 SSD (1 TB), 32 GB of RAM, two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a QHD display (G-Sync, 240Hz). Despite having powerful components, the notebook only produces a moderate amount of noise – with the right settings.

OLED or Mini-LED? Laptop manufacturers don't have it easy at the moment. Intel Gen 14 has hardly delivered any improved performance, there are no new Nvidia GPUs to install—so what reasons can you give customers to purchase your yearly laptop updates? Meteor Lake and Wi-Fi 7. HP updates its Spectre x360 high-end convertible, now using a larger 14-inch OLED panel with 120 Hz in combination with a current Meteor Lake processor from Intel. In addition, the case was redesigned and Wi-Fi 7 is also available.

Thunderbolt and DCI-P3, yes or no? In contrast to Dell's Alienware series, the Dell G16 covers the mid-range segment of gaming laptops. The 2024 model relies neither on Intel's new Gen 14 chips nor on its Ultra CPUs—but in turn, its price is kept relatively low and on paper, it features a decent display. Raptor in sheep's clothing. The Core i7-14700K stands out in the Intel 14th gen Raptor Lake-S Refresh lineup with 20 cores and 28 threads. While the Core i7-14700K comes very close to the pricier Core i9-13900K, AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, and the Ryzen 9 7950X3D in overall CPU performance, things aren't as straightforward in gaming.

EliteBook for drawing. Convertible laptops are not the bulk of the market, but for users who need the pen and touch, they are indispensable. The HP EliteBook x360 830 G10 goes for the business side of the market, going head to head with the likes of the Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 4.

Flagship. The Scar 18 is currently one of the most powerful laptops. The Core i9-14900HX and GeForce RTX 4090 enable 4k gaming, video processing, and rendering. The bright and vibrant mini-LED display (18 inch, 2560x1600 pixel) is a feast for the eyes.

Nearly smashes the pavilion. HP aims to tap into the burgeoning entry-level creator market with the Pavilion Plus 16. The Pavilion Plus 16 is among the few laptops to feature the RTX 3050 6 GB GPU along with a Core i7-13700H, 16 GB RAM, and a QHD+ 120 Hz IPS display. While decent in its own right, comparison with similar laptops shows HP could have minimized some of the compromises for an even more compelling ₹1,24,999 (US$1,350) proposition.
