Intel Core 200 Geekbench leak tips new laptop CPU as rebranded Raptor Lake gaming processor
Intel's upcoming Arrow Lake CPUs have started appearing online ahead of a supposed late October launch, however, it appears that the Intel Core 7 250H is something of an imposter. Taking a page out of AMD's recent play book, Intel appears to be reusing silicon from 13th- and 14th-Gen CPUs in its new Core 200 series in what will apparently be the second Raptor Lake refresh.
According to a new leaked Geekbench test result, which also incidentally places the new Core 5 mobile CPU right around the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS according to our performance tests, the Core 7 250H will be a Raptor Lake CPU with a very familiar core layout. The Geekbench listing reveals that the Core 7 250H has six P-cores and 8 E-cores, with frequencies ranging between 2.5 GHz and 5.187 GHz, and 24 MB of L3 Cache, to boot.
Intel Core 7 250H Geekbench 6 results
- Single-core: 2,415 points
- Multi-core: 13,201 points
While the benchmark scores are certainly nothing to scoff at, those specs make the new Raptor Lake Core 7 look awfully similar to the existing Intel Core i7-13800H and the Core i5-14500HX in terms of architecture and core and cache layout. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, though, since the benchmarks clearly indicate that the CPU is still capable of delivering competitive performance.
It's also important to note that the Intel Core 7 250H Geekbench test was performed on an MSI Katana laptop, which is generally MSI's more budget-oriented laptop platform. While high-performance CPUs (Ryzen 7- and Core 7-tier) are commonplace on even budget laptops, Intel is differentiating its Core Ultra series processors as the flagship, AI-capable CPUs, with regular Core non-Ultra CPUs seemingly relegated to budget laptops. This could be an indication that upcoming Intel-powered budget laptops could come in slightly cheaper.
