Intel Core-powered 11.6-inch Darveen RTC-I116 rugged tablet debuts with dual hot-swappable batteries
Businesses looking for flexible tablet PC designs for work in extreme conditions now have a new option to consider, which is the new Darveen RTC-I116. Built around the 12th-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, as requested, this tablet PC is also flexible from the software perspective. Customers often choose Windows 10 and Windows 11, but there is also a Linux option available. Sadly, the official product page does not reveal what distro is being used.
The 11.6-inch touchscreen of this MIL-STD-810H and IP66-certified piece of hardware is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass rated 7H for hardness and provides a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits, as well as 1,000:1 maximum contrast. The FHD display can easily handle humid environments, including rain, and supports both glove and active pen operation. The processor options available are two, namely the Intel Core i5-1235U and i7-1255U.
While the default memory/storage setup is 16/256 GB, it can go up to 32 GB/1 TB, as needed. The cameras are modest, offering 5 MP for the front (with optional Windows Hello support) and 12 MP as the main image shooter. The list of connectivity options includes RJ45 Ethernet, RS232/422/485 serial ports, Bluetooth 5.3, as well as optional RFID, NFC, and barcode readers.
This slate weighs no less than 1.55 kg (3.43 pounds) and measures 315 x 203 x 20 mm (12.40 x 7.99 x 0.79 inches). Pricing is available on request since it targets enterprise customers, which usually order hundreds or thousands of units at once.
