Inexpensive gamer. Acer's inexpensive gaming notebook displays all the latest computer games smoothly. The device is available for just under £800 (~$1035) in the UK. It is equipped with a Kaby Lake quad-core processor, a GeForce GTX 1050 GPU and both an SSD and HDD.

The world's most lightweight 14-inch notebook. That is at least according to Asus, since the company advertises their latest 1.05 kg (2.31 lbs) heavy and 15 mm (0.59 inches) USB-C only office notebook as such. 4K Gaming. The Acer Predator series stands for classical gaming notebooks, which – in contrast to some of their slim siblings – are purely trimmed for performance. Small screamer. The Aorus X3 Plus v7 brings a lot of power in a tiny package. While the internals are impressive, thermals and noise present problems. Emissions aside, the X3 Plus v7 is a capable and portable gaming notebook.

Master of Mobility. With its new flagship, Fujitsu turns towards the traveling business user for whom a mobile all-around worry-free package is worth a lot of money. It does not change anything about its core competencies that the manufacturer messes up in some details and will not keep the target audience from buying this laptop.

A fair deal. With its latest TravelMate P658-G2 top model, Acer is certainly bringing out the big guns: SSD/HDD combo, LTE modem, 16 GB of RAM. All that comes in addition to low operating noise, decent battery life, and a three-year warranty.

A convincing concept. The equation Lenovo uses for describing their new gaming laptop does appear to make sense: power + portability = perfection. The perfection might not be absolute - but Lenovo does show that they know what a true gaming notebook is all about.

Deja Vu. To the casual observer, the Dell Latitude 12 5285 2-in-1 bears more than a passing resemblance to Microsoft's well-established Surface Pro 4. From the screen size to the overall dimensions and looks down to the accessories like the detachable keyboard and active stylus - the tablet/convertible is a spitting image on many, but not all levels.

Remake with a turbo-SSD. Acer issues a Kaby Lake upgrade for their slim TravelMate in an inconspicuous aluminum case. It is faster, and its battery runs for up to 14 hours. The 512 GB SSD storage is not only massive, but it is also extremely fast. With the rest of the equipment, like the IPS screen, a fast processor, the backlit keyboard and a three-year warranty, Acer holds up their established class.
