Last Sunday, Microsoft showed off the performance and features of the Xbox One X, the more powerful 4K version of the Xbox One. At the end of their Gamescom presentation, they announced the official opening of pre-orders for the limited edition Xbox One X 'Project Scorpio' variant.
A couple of hours ago, Microsoft announced that the Xbox One X 'Project Scorpio' was the fastest selling Xbox pre-order they have ever run, including pre-orders for next generation consoles. Microsoft stated that in addition to this new record the limited edition has sold-out in several countries.
If you want to get your hands on a console, but they are sold out in your country, then the standard edition will become available for pre-order before the official launch on November 7, according to Microsoft. "Although our fans may no longer be able to pre-order the Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition in their country, we know people are still anxious to get their hands on the world’s most powerful console. We will be announcing details of the next wave of Xbox One X standard edition pre-orders next month..."
Annoyingly, Microsoft is continuing their recent trend of not providing figures for product sales, except during financial filings and when significant milestones are reached, so we are a little blind as to exactly how successful the pre-order was.
In addition to selling so quickly, the Xbox One X received the Gamescom 2017 award for best hardware, although there was only one other nominee in the category in the form of the slot car set 'Anki Overdrive: Fast and Furious edition.'

I grew up in a family surrounded by technology, starting with my father loading up games for me on a Commodore 64, and later on a 486. In the late 90's and early 00's I started learning how to tinker with Windows, while also playing around with Linux distributions, both of which gave me an interest for learning how to make software do what you want it to do, and modifying settings that aren't normally user accessible. After this I started building my own computers, and tearing laptops apart, which gave me an insight into hardware and how it works in a complete system. Now keeping up with the latest in hardware and software news is a passion of mine.
