After a long wait, the Android 10-based LineageOS 17.1 ROM is available for the Xiaomi Mi A1. The firmware is still a nightly status, unfortunately. Other handsets that got Android 10 support thanks to LineageOS 17.1 in the last few days include the OnePlus 5/5T and later models, LG V20, Honor View 10, HTC One 2014, and others.

After sending out stable MIUI 12 updates to its premium phones, Xiaomi has now set its sights towards the mid-range. MIUI 12 is now in the second round of seeding, beginning with the Redmi Note 8 Pro—which has now received a limited global beta build with the designation "MIUI 12.0.0.4 QGGMIXM".

Xiaomi has published the pilot testers that have been selected to receive MIUI 12 Global Stable beta updates for Round 2 of the company's release schedule. The Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 8 Pro and Poco F1 are eligible for the stable beta updates.

Xiaomi has delivered another update for the Redmi 7A, this time upgrading Indian handsets to Android 10. However, while the entry-level handset should soon be upgraded to MIUI 12, this latest update does not deliver on that.

The Realme C1 is the company's latest affordable smartphone that costs RM 429 ($100). It comes with a MediaTek Helio G35 SoC, a 5,000mAh battery, two rear cameras, and a micro USB port. The phone is up for sale in Malaysia and is expected to make its way to other markets in the coming weeks.

Xiaomi Malaysia has just listed the Redmi 9A and Redmi 9C on its official Facebook page. Leaked renders for Motorola’s upcoming Moto G 5G indicate that the midranger will feature a rather strange dual front punch hole camera arrangement, along with a quad 48MP shooter on the rear. MediaTek has unveiled two new gaming-centric chips for entry-level smartphones. The Helio G35 and Helio G25 come with eight Cortex-A53 cores, a PowerVR GE8320 GPU, and support for MediaTek's HyperEngine technology. The former will allegedly make its debut alongside the Realme C11, while the latter will be featured in the Redmi 9A.

The Galaxy A41 is the youngest representative of the Galaxy A series from Samsung and has a reputation to protect. Until now, smartphones from this family were able to convince with their good price-performance ratio. As our test shows, the Galaxy A41 makes no mistakes either. The 6.1-inch mid-range smartphone offers a lot of value at a price of 299 Euros (~$335).

Apple's upcoming iPhone 12 could feature 4K 120 fps and 4K 240 fps video recording, according to code unearthed in recent iOS 14 beta builds. This feature is likely to be restricted to the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max models. There's also a possibility that the iPhone would record natively at 4K 120 fps and then interlace the video to 240 fps.

Over the past few weeks, Xiaomi has been sending out beta stable MIUI 12 updates to its premium phones. Honor has officially announced that the Youth Edition of its 30-series smartphone exists, and that it has a launch date for the Chinese market. In fact, it is the same as that of the 10X Max: July 2, 2020. Both phones are rumored to have the same Dimensity 800 SoC, although they may be very different otherwise.

Is newer better? The Redmi Note 9 was launched months ago debuting with MediaTek's new Helio G85, but how does it compare to the tried and tested Snapdragon 665 on Xiaomi's last-gen Redmi Note 8? Well, the results are nuanced.

Apple could be working on an iPhone prototype running a full-fledged macOS, according to insider information cited by Mauri QHD. Specifications for a possible 5G variant of the Redmi Note 9 smartphone have been shared on Chinese social media. It’s rumored the device will sport an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G and boast of a 120 Hz display. However, it’s believed the Redmi Note 9 5G might end up being a China-only release.

A recent edition to the Moto E series of affordable smartphones exhibited several discrepancies in our review, not the least of which was launching with Android 9.0 (Pie) in 2019. However, a new Geekbench 5 listing suggests that this issue, at least, may be resolved soon. It shows that a phone with the E6 Plus' specs, but running an updated OS.

Huawei is now sending out the EMUI 10 update to P20 Pro and Mate 10 Pro around the world. The update is rolling out to owners in the UK, rest of Europe, and South America. A design patent for a Realme Gamepad has been leaked. The patent reveals four images of the gamepad in different colors. The Realme Gamepad looks just like the OPPO C1 Gamepad.

Xiaomi is running a temporary battery replacement service for 21 Xiaomi and Redmi-branded smartphones. The program will operate from July 1 to July 7 and users will only have to pay 49 yuan (US$7) to take advantage of the scheme. As usual, the latest software update for Xiaomi's Mi A1 comes with a few spam videos on YouTube that mention Android 10. Sadly, the patch comes on top of the old Android 9 core that will not get updated via the official channels. Luckily, those who want Android 10 can pick one of the good third-party choices available.

According to new reports, Samsung is working on a new phone, the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition. The phone is said to be slated for a October launch, after the release of the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2, and will be a more affordable Galaxy S20 offering.

Over the years, former high-end features have repeatedly seeped through to the lower price ranges. The most current element is 90 Hz displays in mid-range smartphones, of which realme also built one into the 6 Pro.

Samsung refreshed its popular Galaxy A71 smartphone with a 5G-enabled SoC in 2020. Now, a new Geekbench listing hints at a further variation on this device. It is known as the SM-A716V on this platform, and may thus have the product name of A71s should it launch soon.

A leaker has claimed that Apple is considering releasing two 4G variants of its upcoming iPhone 12 lineup, and the smartphones will be priced at surprisingly low points for Apple devices. The unknown source has stated a price of US$549 for the regular 4G model and US$649 for the iPhone 12 Max without 5G capability.

Most of the newly-leaked specs seem very similar to the non-5G version, except for the SoC that is now supposed to be a Snapdragon 865 Plus. The leaker also seems to be confusing the selfie cam with one of the rear sensors, so the accuracy of this leak is a bit dubious.
