Xiaomi's upcoming Redmi K40 series of affordable flagship smartphones has shown up on the rumour mill several times. Earlier reports have told us that all Redmi K40 smartphones would come with a high-refresh-rate screen and fast charging capabilities. The actual values may refresh depending on the SKU. We now have a rough idea about what the Redmi K40 Pro has in store for us.
Some leaked Redmi K40 Pro renders have made their way online via Twitter leaker Abhishek Yadav. They showcase a vertical rear camera placement, which is quite unlike the circular pattern on the Redmi K30 Pro. The pop-up camera has been ditched for a centrally-placed hole-punch alternative too. While the actual camera spec is still anyone's guess, it wouldn't be surprising if the Redmi K40 Pro followed the Redmi Note 9 Pro's footsteps with a 108MP lens.
Lastly, the Redmi K40 Pro will is expected to feature an AMOLED panel and run a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. Its 5,000mAh battery is expected to support fast charging at 55W. One can't help but notice that the Redmi K40 has an uncanny resemblance to the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, complete with the identical camera arrangement and all. It is far too early to speculate when Xiaomi will launch the Redmi K40 series. The chances of it dropping before the Xiaomi Mi 11 series seems slim, so we're probably looking at a Q1 2021 launch, at earliest.
