AMD will unveil its new version of the Adrenalin drivers for Radeon gaming cards on December 13. The software is thought not to target performance directly, and focus on a variety of novel or improved features instead. For example, it will add a 'tutorial' for Radeon Settings.

Tech enthusiasts were intrigued by a contest hosted by a South Korean sales agency, the object of which was to guess the Cinebench scores for the as of yet unreleased Ryzen 3600X and 3700X. However, the contest has now been cancelled after AMD was notified about it and the company presumably had a hand in shutting it down.

An AMD-related image trademark has been discovered that has led to some discussion about its possible meaning, if any. The application in question shows a logo that is very similar to the well-known Vega logo, but the right-hand wing of the “V” has been dissected with two vertical lines. Unsurprisingly, some have speculated that this could herald a planned Radeon Vega II refresh.

The Navi 10 is AMD's upcoming 7nm-based architecture for its next-gen GPUs. A post on the Chiphell forum now alleges that it could compete with NVIDIA's RTX 2080 in certain configurations. This contravenes earlier leaks pitting the flagship Navi card up against the 2070.

If the information is right, it looks like AMD is going for aggressive price points in the mid-range GPU market, making the upcoming Radeon RX 3080 / 3070 / 3060 models a very tempting alternative to Nvidia's RTX 2070 and GTX 1070 / 1060 cards.

A recent entry in SiSoftware's SANDRA database lists AMD's upcoming "Rome" EPYC CPU with double the L3 cache as prior Zen CPUs. Detailed as "16 x 16 MB L3," this would put total L3 cache for Rome at 256 MB across its 64 cores, utterly trouncing Intel's forthcoming Cascade Lake CPUs. Initially meant to get a US$500 MSRP, AMD's Radeon RX Vega 64 GPU had to go through serious supply problems that jacked the retail prices to almost US$800. Fast forward one year later, the card supply is almost too high now, and thanks to AMD's price slashes plus the Cyber Monday deals from Newegg, the RX Vega 64 can be ordered for US$400 along with three free games.

Although there have been a couple of leaks on Rome's performance, AMD's newest server CPU has never been put head to head against Intel's immediate competition, the new Cascade Lake based Xeon server CPU. However, Wang Dang of HKEPC has apparently gotten access to a Cascade Lake based system and reported the Cinebench score is achieved.

According to a Taiwanese forum thread that claims to have information from an inside partner meeting, Intel may be developing a 10-core consumer-grade CPU in the Comet Lake-S family. The CPU would be built on the 14 nm process and may use a dual-ring bus design, implying that the CPU will split cores between two dies.

AMD posted a response to a common complaint from Ryzen-based laptop users on Reddit earlier this week, stating that the company would better support graphics drivers for Ryzen laptops starting in 2019. The recent 'crypto crash' may have resulted in a large-scale dumping of slightly older cards onto sites like eBay. Consequently, this may drive down the prices others with the same GPUs (e.g. gamers) can ask for their listings. In addition, this is the season to grab cash for upgrades.

The first wave of EPYC 7000 CPUs were able to reach only 3.2 GHz on boost clocks, but with the new EPYC 7371, AMD pushes the envelope up to 3.8 GHz, which is quite high for server-grade processors that don't usually benefit from custom air coolers or water coolers. The EPYC 7371 is aimed at design automation and high-frequency trading tasks, supporting dual-socket setups for improved performance.

References to a new AMD APU, the Ryzen 7 3700U, have been spotted online leading to speculation as to whether this could be a Zen+ or a Zen 2 part. The Ryzen 7 3700U sports the same clocks and core counts as the Ryzen 7 2700U and most of the evidence so far suggests that this could be the Zen+ APU as the previous 2000U series were based on Zen.

The EPYC Rome server-grade CPUs have just been revealed to have 64 cores and 2.35 GHz clocks, but it looks like AMD is already working on the successor that will be based on the Zen 3 architecture. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the upcoming CPUs will be known as the EPYC Milan, will have more than 64 cores, and will be featured in octa-CPU nodes along with Nvidia's 'Volta-Next" GPUs in the Perlmutter supercomputer.

Specs and pricing information for the upcoming AMD Radeon RX 590 based on the Polaris 30 architecture are now available. The Radeon RX 590 is said to have an MSRP of US$279. According to presentation slides accessed by Videocardz, the RX 590 will offer 12% better performance than the current RX 580. It is expected to be offered with a 'blockbuster launch bundle' with three free titles.

While both Zen 2 and the Zen 2 based Rome processor were officially announced by AMD at its Next Horizon event, little information was given on things like clock speed, IPC improvements, and other performance figures and specifications. At this year's Supercomputing conference, however, we got some details on Rome's clock speeds.

Apple has released new models of the 15-inch MacBook Pro with AMD Radeon Pro Vega GPUs. The new MacBook Pros can be configured with either a Radeon Pro Vega 16 or Radeon Pro Vega 20. The new GPU option is only available for the most expensive 15-inch Macbook Pro and will start at US $3,049.

AMD did not disclose exactly how much more IPC Zen 2 had over Zen 1, but it seems 20% or more for at least some workloads can be expected.

Previous rumors were saying that Navi would only match the GTX 1080 GPUs from Nvidia, and, according to some new information, this is more like a half truth. It looks like AMD is planning to release the mid-range Navi 12 in the first half of 2019, with the Navi 10 and 20 high-end models coming in late 2019.

AMD's Radeon Instinct series consists of high-performance GPUs for applications such as deep learning, science, financial services and other extremely high-performance areas. Images and the specifications of the XFX Radeon RX 590 Fatboy graphics card have been posted online. The Fatboy variant will offer a boost clock of 1600 MHz and have a 256-bit memory bus.

While TSMC's new 7nm is already quite popular, being the basis for several processors from companies AMD, Apple, and Huawei, even more are announcing that they too will be fabricating their products at TSMC using their new process. Nvidia, Qualcomm, and more will be ordering chips from TSMC in 2019.

AMD hinted during its recently concluded Next Horizon Event that the Zen 4 microarchitecture is in the design phase. No further details were revealed but chances are that it will be using an advanced node for this architecture that could debut in 2021 or later.

Pictures of the Sapphire Radeon RX 590 Nitro+ Special Edition have surfaced online. The exact specs of the card are still unavailable but we should be knowing more information close to the official announcement on November 15. The RX 590 is based on the new Polaris 30 architecture, which is being made in a 12nm process. Sapphire and other AIBs have retained the existing RX 580 designs for this refresh.

Previously rumored to be slower than the GTX 1080 from Nvidia, it looks like the red team managed to tune a few things and boost the overall performance. MSRPs are rumored to be in the US$250 zone.
