5G may cost up to 20% battery life on the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro

It may now be possible to connect to 5G networks on an iPhone, but it will cost you in battery life. Enabling 5G can cut battery life by up to 20% based on initial findings, meaning that you may need to recharge the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro before the end of the day.

The iPhone 12 Mini is something Android OEMs may ignore as a trend

Apple may have pleased may fans with the release of the iPhone 12 Mini, a rare return to mobile screens of well under 6 inches in size. Therefore, other non-iOS smartphone manufacturers may want to start on their own equally compact flagships, right? Wrong, says eminent leaker Digital Chat Station.

iPad 10.2 (2020)

Opinion: This is why the Apple iPad 10.2 is a sustainable product

Apple has begun its push for sustainability well before Greta Thunberg by reducing the carbon footprint of its products and not using toxic materials for its devices. Since climate change became a major political issue, Apple started to highlight its contribution to the protection of the environment.

Xiaomi Mi 11 SE or Redmi K40 Mini could be on the cards thanks to iPhone 12 Mini admiration

A social media post by Lu Weibing has led to some speculation that Xiaomi or Redmi could be planning a diminutive variant of a future flagship along the lines of the iPhone 12 Mini. A Xiaomi Mi 11 SE or Redmi K40 Mini would certainly go down well with users looking for a more compact smartphone.

The iPhone 12 series' battery sizes are listed in full

Unlike most Android OEMs, Apple does not include battery capacities in its spec lists for iPhones. However, it may be a particularly pressing issue this year, as the new 12 series has gone 5G, something that may eat screen-on time. A Dutch carrier has listed actual milliamp-hour figures for all 4 variants, and they make for worrying reading.

The A14 Bionic performs better in the new iPad Air, and by quite a margin. (Image source: Apple - edited)

The iPhone 12 performs up to 30% worse than the iPad Air with the same Apple A14 Bionic chipset, but that is acceptable

Apple decided to release the new iPad Air and the iPhone 12 practically simultaneously, a first for the company. The fourth-generation tablet features the same 5 nm chipset as likes of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro, so it was inevitable that people would draw performance comparisons. As AnTuTu has demonstrated, it seems that the iPhone 12, at least, is holding back the A14 Bionic somewhat.

Apple may have equipped the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max with 6 GB of RAM, but initial Geekbench result is a mixed bag for the A14 Bionic

The differences between the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro models were thought to be only camera-based, but it turns out that Apple has also equipped them with different volumes of RAM. The increase in RAM for the Pro models should give them an advantage over the regular iPhone 12 and their predecessors, but an initial Geekbench listing offers up some rather disappointing multi-core performance.
