Apple iPad 9 tipped to arrive soon with a faster processor and a thinner design
iPad 9 rumours have started again, this time from Mark Gurman. In December, cnBeta claimed that Apple would release a ninth-generation version of the iPad for spring 2021, which never materialised. However, Gurman claims that Apple has scheduled the device's release for this autumn.
Speculatively, we would not be surprised if Apple announced the iPad 9 at its September hardware event, like it did last year with the iPad 8. Gurman has not stated this, but Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 13 series on September 17.
Reputedly, the iPad 9 will retain the current model's design, which includes thick bezels and a Home Button with integrated Touch ID. Gurman alleges that the ninth-generation model will be thinner than its predecessor though, while utilising a more powerful SoC.
Unfortunately, there is no word yet on what SoC Apple will include in the iPad 9. Apple's decision to release the iPad 8 with a two-generation-old A12 Bionic last year has us thinking that the A13 Bionic is destined for the iPad 9, though. Pricing remains unknown at this stage too, as do storage configurations and colours.
