Apple M1X Mac Mini allegedly delayed until 2022

Rumors about an upcoming Apple M1X Mac Mini have constructed an image of an absolute powerhouse of a desktop computer built into a surprisingly small and slender form. While leaked schematics of the next-generation Mac Mini have seemingly confirmed its updated looks and connectivity, which includes a magnetic power cord, there is still plenty of mystery in regard to the components, price, and release date. Previously, it had been mentioned that the M1X Mac Mini could be launched at the same time as the 2021 MacBook Pro laptops, but apparently that plan may have been shelved. LeaksApplePro has stated that the computer has been “delayed due to ‘marketing reasons’”.

Additionally, the same source offered an updated release date timeframe for the Apple M1X Mac Mini, commenting that it could launch alongside the redesigned MacBook Air in “Q1/Q2 2022”. While “marketing reasons” is of course a very ambiguous excuse, it could be that Apple simply wants to put all the focus on the expected M1X MacBook Pro laptops. It’s also possible that the M1X Mac Mini could still be teased at the same time as the MacBook Pro machines are announced while not actually being officially “launched”, but at this point of time this is just speculation.

In a recent video, Vadim Yuryev of the popular Max Tech channel offered a price prediction for the M1X Mac Mini, reckoning a base model would start at US$1,299. While that is pricey for an entry-level Apple Mac Mini, this would be a device with at least 16 GB RAM, a 512 GB SSD, and a potent M1X processor with a 10-core CPU part and likely a 16-core GPU part (with up to a 32-core GPU and 64 GB RAM being potential configuration options). Yuryev also debates the likelihood of an October reveal, opining that it is a strong possibility; however, he also adds that the M1X Mac Mini may only be unveiled in October with an actual launch coming later. If LeaksApplePro is correct, then this now seems to be the case.
