A spec sheet from Lenovo confirms that the upcoming ThinkPad T15g Gen 1 can be equipped with either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q or an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q. The T15g Gen 1 can also be configured with a bevy of Intel Comet Lake CPUs. There are a few Xeon options as well.

Gaming GPUs are no longer the most profitable business for Nvidia

Thanks to the Mellanox acquisition and the launch of the Ampere A100 compute accelerators in mind Q2, the data center business overshadowed the gaming GPU division, which still did quite well. A reversal is expected to happen in Q4 this year, when the Ampere gaming GPUs will have hit the market.

Even though the leaker now claims the manufacturer told him the PCB is for an RTX 3080 card, we can definitely spot a few elements that seem a bit overkill for an xx80 model: 11 memory modules for at least 22 GB of VRAM, triple 8-pin power connectors plus a hidden special chip on the back of the PCB. Micron, on the other hand, confirms that the RTX 3090 is indeed real and it will integrate the new 21 Gbps GDDR6X modules with 1 TB/s bandwidth.

Sony already has something similar to Nvidia's DLSS with the checkerboard renderer implemented in the PS4 console, but the results are not really on par because of the limited hardware. An improved version integrated with the PS5 could benefit from the more powerful AMD hardware, ensuring that 4K games at least run @60 fps properly.
