NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti specs leak: 4864 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6 at 448 GB/s could max out Cyberpunk 2077 and Watch Dogs Legion at 1080p with ray-tracing
The folks over at Videocardz got hold of credible leaked specs for NVIDIA’s upcoming GeForce RTX 3060 Ti graphics card. The unannounced Ampere card looks set to deliver an excellent 1080p experience with ray-tracing enabled, with performance in the ballpark of the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER and GeForce RTX 2080.
The GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is supposedly based on a cut-down version of the GeForce RTX 3070’s GA104 GPU, with just 4864 CUDA cores enabled. RT cores are pared back a bit too, with the RTX 3060 Ti featuring 38 RT cores compared to 46 on the GeForce RTX 3070. However, GA104’s memory configuration remains untouched, meaning that the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti is set to deliver the full 448 GB/s of bandwidth and 8GB of VRAM.
In terms of power consumption, we’re looking at 180W, likely to be a relief after the GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3070 were announced with TDPs over 300W.
All of this paints a picture of a card that’s perfectly positioned to deliver premium ultra-quality experiences at 1080p, with ray-tracing enabled. Cyberpunk 2077 and Watch Dogs Legion are set to arrive soon and both games have shown off expensive RTX effects that could challenge Ampere and Turing cards at 1440p and 4K.
However, at 1080p, the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti likely packs enough horsepower to crank out the frames, even with RTX enabled. If you’re gaming on a 1080p monitor or TV, this could be a smart pick, especially if NVIDIA the price down like it did with the GeForce RTX 3070 and GeForce RTX 3080.
