Samsung is all but certain to unveil the next-gen Galaxy Z Fold on August 11, 2021. However, new leaks from well-known sources purport to spoil this event with full-scale specs for the ultra-premium device. They purport to outline the Z Fold3 in every detail, from its connectivity options to more specific display and camera resolutions.

Honor was formed as a high-value, budget sub-brand by Huawei, but was sold last year in an attempt to disassociate the brand from Huawei and its troubles with the US government. That move may prove to have been worthless soon, though, as a group of fourteen US politicians are reportedly lobbying for Honor to be added to the US's Entity List.

The tiny Mony Mint 4G smartphone has appeared on Indiegogo, managing to meet its fund goal of HKD $4,000 (US$514) within 15 minutes. The “smallest 4G smartphone” sports a 3-inch display and is powered by a quad-core MT6739 chip. Super early bird backers can snap up the Mony Mint for just US$99.

New information indicates that Xiaomi is set to begin the Android 12 rollout in the near future. The company will start by sending out the update in its home market to the Mi 11, Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Ultra, and Redmi K40 Pro Plus. Its Snapdragon 888-powered devices, essentially.

Realme has already launched the GT Master and GT Master Exploration Editions in China, as "designer" variants of its current 2021 flagship. Now, a new leak claims that the phones are also going to launch in Europe soon. They will apparently start in the ~US$400 category for SKUs with 6GB of RAM.

After sending out the MIUI 12.5 update to the Redmi Note 10, Xiaomi is now doing the same for owners of the Redmi Note 9 and Redmi 9. New MIUI 12.5 updates are rolling out to the Global ROM models of those two phones, with July security patches in tow.

Seeedstudio has released a new carrier board for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4, allowing the device to be used as a mini router. Accordingly, the accessory brings multiple physical connections to the CM4, including dual Gigabit Ethernet and USB Type-C. The Dual Gigabit Carrier Board has a built-in aluminium heatsink too, which should keep the carrier board and CM4 cool under sustained load.

A new expansion board extends the Raspberry Pi Pico with cellular and GPS connectivity. Data transfer rates should be enough for many applications, and the board even includes a small LCD screen for good measure. A 4G version is available, also.

iQOO has confirmed that it will launch new, 8-series premium Android smartphones in mid-August 2021. It has also teased these phones with the announcement that they will launch with new, "E5" display panels with high pixel densities and 10-bit color. The 8 and possible 8 Pro are also said to come with a variable refresh rate and DC dimming.

Samsung has announced that it is taking orders for its Galaxy S7 Tab Fan Edition (FE) in the US from today (August 5, 2021). The tablet will be available in its Wi-Fi and 5G variants, the former of which is offered in a variety of colors whereas the latter comes in just one. They start at US$529 for the non-cellular version.

Nvidia’s plans to acquire UK-based chip designer Arm in a deal worth US$40 billion looks like it could be unraveling. A security assessment undertaken by the UK government has raised national security concerns. This follows suggestions that other regulators, including the European Commission could also terminate the deal.

Lenovo is now slated to augment its Tab P-series tablet series with a new variant soon. This "P12 Pro" is painted as a device with a former flagship processor - which is a surprise as its predecessor has a mid-range SoC. It is also depicted as having more RAM and running Android 11.

Finally, Xiaomi is sending out the MIUI 12.5 update to its current cash cow, the Redmi Note 10. At the moment, the update is exclusive to Global ROM models of the mid-range phone, but is already in the stable stage, so will not take long to get to all owners of that model.

Qualcomm looks like it is preparing a new Snapdragon Wear chip to coincide with the launch of Google and Samsung’s Wear OS 3. The new chip appears to carry the Snapdragon Wear 5100 branding that would make the successor to last year’s Snapdragon Wear 4100.

Google teased its upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro smartphones yesterday, and it looks like the company is aiming to compete in the intensely competitive Android flagship territory. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will be powered by Google's new Tensor SoC designed for accelerating AI and ML applications, but other specifications of the chip are not yet known.

Samsung sales are declining. The company has recorded mostly negative sales metrics this year, and a new report estimates that the Galaxy S21 series has sold rather poorly, showing a 20% drop versus the S20 lineup, and a massive 47% decline when compared to the Galaxy S10 series.

MIUI code has revealed that an upcoming Xiaomi device, expected to be the Mi Mix 4, will offer ultra-wideband support. Huawei flagships have a habit of finding themselves at the top of DxOMark's camera rankings at launch, and the new Huawei P50 Pro is no different. The Snapdragon 888-powered phone has now made the trip over to DxOMark, and slightly edged out the Mi 11 Ultra to clinch top spot—for whatever that's worth in the real world.

Although it does not take big steps forward in terms of design, the Oppo Watch 2 comes with solid improvements over its predecessor on the inside. Huawei has now unveiled its newest flagship phones, the Huawei P50 and Huawei P50 Pro. The famed and often reliable leaker Ishan Agarwal has published new posts containing some intriguing full-spec claims for the possibly-imminent Huawei P50 Pro. They pertain to the phone's putative 4G/LTE-only variant, which apparently has quad rear cameras, 3 of which are high-res sensors with different and occasionally quite surprising functions.

Some interesting information about the non-plus successor to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC has been offered up by a noted tech leaker. Realme has just overtly teased a "newcomer": a smartphone with the simple, snappy name of Flash. Shortly afterward, GSMArena claimed to have been sent some teasers with a succinct explanation for this new moniker: it will launch with compatibility for the OEM's rumored new MagDart wireless charging system.

Apple, along with Huawei, has usually been the first to showcase the latest silicon manufacturing process, but it appears TSMC's 3 nm may offer a deviation from that. Due to changes in typical production schedules, it looks likely that Qualcomm and MediaTek will have that honor next year, with Apple having to wait till the release of the A17 Bionic in 2023.

MediaTek has announced the launch of the Kompanio 1300T SoC for high-end tablets. The Kompanio 1300T is a 6 nm part that resembles the Dimensity 1200 SoC in quite a few specifications. Additionally, the company also announced the T750 5G CPE chipset for use in equipment such as routers and access points.

A possible real-life image of the Xiaomi Mi 12 and specifically its rear-facing main camera system has appeared on Chinese social media. The alleged live shot offers up some clues about the potential camera equipment of the Mi 12, which is widely expected to end up sporting the Snapdragon 895 processor.

More information about the expected Redmi K50 and Redmi K50 Pro smartphones from Xiaomi has emerged. It has been alleged that the devices will be fitted with Snapdragon 895 processors and ape the looks of the upcoming Huawei P50, likely in regard to the camera housing. The Redmi K50 and K50 Pro could be released in early 2022.

After gracing the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite with their final updates last week, Xiaomi has continued to support its youngest Android One phone, the Mi A3, as promised. The July update is now seeding to the Mi A3 globally, but brings the phone a month closer to the end of its life.

OPPO has just announced a refresh for its budget 5G smartphone, the A93. This new version has more or less the same specs as the old, except for the MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC in place of the original's Qualcomm Snapdragon 480. Nevertheless, the newer A93s' starting price remains the same as that of its template.

Motorola has revealed the time and date of its next product launch via its official Weibo channel. A teaser released alongside this post strongly suggests that this event is for the Edge 20 series, a trio of smartphones slated to come with 108MP main cameras. Meanwhile, a Pro variant for this line has been confirmed through its certification with the Thai NBTC.
