Apple has already confirmed that it will stream a launch event tomorrow, hosted on its website and the Apple TV app. Typically, Apple showcases new iPhones at its September hardware events, with new Watch Series hardware joining in on the annual refresh. Apple has also unveiled new iPads at recent September events, such as the iPad 8 and iPad Air 4 last year.
However, Mark Gurman believes that this will not be the case this year. Instead, Gurman asserts that Apple has scheduled another event for new Mac and iPad hardware. While Gurman has not offered any details about the date of this event, last year's equivalent occurred on November 10.
If Gurman is correct about a Mac and iPad hardware event, then we imagine that Apple will unveil at least five devices simultaneously. Based on rumours and leaks, the iPads will be the iPad 9 and iPad mini 6, which are both slated to receive design refreshes compared to current models.
Apple has released previous MacBook Pros between late October and early November though, so this year's event is not necessarily fixed for November. Significantly, Gurman's tweet confirms that the MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 will not arrive via a press release, as the mid-2019 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13 did. For context, the MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 are expected to arrive with Apple's M1X SoC, possibly alongside a new Mac mini.
