Apple may have confirmed that it will host another hardware event next week, but it has provided little in the way of teasers about what to expect. Rumour has it that the company will unveil the MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16, both with M1X SoCs and high refresh rate mini LED displays.
Luke Miani has explained what ports the next-generation MacBook Pros will feature, too. Claiming to have 100% confidence in his information, Miani claims that the pair will contain three USB 4 ports, presumably all offering up to 40 Gbps transfer speeds and DisplayPort Alt Mode 2.0 via Type-C connectors. Miani expects two USB 4 ports to sit on the MacBook Pros' left-hand side, with another on the opposite side. Hence, it should be possible to charge the MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 from either side using USB 4.
Additionally, MagSafe will return to the MacBook Pro's left-hand side, as will a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Miani asserts that an HDMI port and an SD card reader will slot in next to the lone USB 4 port on the right-hand side too, a further nod to MacBook Pros before 2016.
