A leaker has published alleged specs, prices, and even renders of the upcoming Apple iPad mini 6, including a carefully constructed image that resembles a live shot. There are a couple of surprises in store, both good and bad, with the iPad mini 6 turning out to be basically a miniature iPad Air 4.

A full list of specs and prices and a couple of renders of the Apple iPad mini 6 have been posted by the leaker Majin Bu. As other tech tipsters have disparaged this particular source and there have been some issues with the Twitter account being flagged, it’s certainly best to take all of this information with a pinch of salt. Fans waiting to get their hands on the iPad mini 6 will likely take the following alleged specs with a mixture of pleasure and disappointment, depending on their main reasons for making a potential purchase.

For instance, many thought the iPad mini 6 might come with an A15 SoC, but it is the A14 chip that is listed here. In addition, some may not like the supposed redesign shown in the images, with the volume buttons being moved to the top of the tablet to make space for the Apple Pencil. The design has been questioned by Ian Zelbo, who has started making quite a name for himself thanks to his impressive render work in collaboration with John Prosser. The “live shot” of the iPad mini 6, which is clearly a mock-up, shows a flash that Zelbo states is not present in the Apple CADs that he based his own renders on.

Moving on to the specs, one of the arguably good surprises here is the presence of USB C, which has been a persistent rumor in regard to the new iPad mini. On top of that, the Apple iPad mini 6 will purportedly get an 8.6-inch display, touch ID, the aforementioned A14 processor, smart connector, and Apple Pencil 2 support. Buyers will apparently be able to select a space gray, silver, rose gold, green, or sky blue color for their iPad mini 6, which in this case has been fairly described as basically being a miniature iPad Air 4. In fact, as Zelbo comments, it’s possible the likely Chinese sources for this information used the iPad Air 4 design and specs as a foundation for this iPad mini 6 leak.

Last but not least, there are the prices, with the iPad mini 6 starting at US$399 for the 64 GB Wi-Fi only model. US$549 will get you the 256 GB Wi-Fi only variant while US$529 will need to be shelled out for the 64 GB Wi-Fi + cellular version. The 256 GB Wi-Fi + cellular Apple iPad mini 6 will allegedly be priced at US$679. New iPad mini tablets have been priced from US$399 for the entry-level model in the past, but there is some expectation that Apple might push the price to US$499 for the base iPad mini 6. A November launch is also mentioned in this comprehensive but questionable leak.
